It’s been suggested that there is a distinct possibility that we can sign him permanently and if not then we can get a loan. It would be a massive boost to get this done.

Again, shows how far we've come that this even seems mildly realistic. What a player.

Genuinely think he is better at 21 than Jack Stephens was here at 23

I'm convinced he will be a premier league player by 24

I read the article and it’s just an overview rather than anything informative. Quote from last year saying he wants to play, author says Brighton have a lot of options at centre back, so it’s a possibility he moves on. Nothing new.

I don’t see why so many decent players are being released. Have clubs been really lax with contract renewals, is it a case of trimming squads even if they have a potential value or are players just forcing moves more?

Can't see any logical reason whatsoever why Brighton wouldn't trigger the option in his contract. Even if they don't see him getting in their team they know he'll have a host of suitors.
Only chance I feel we have is another loan or we find some serious money down the back of the sofa when we're clearing out of St Andrews.

Stephens was a lot better on the ball as well as being a good defender. Further up the leagues you go more emphasis there is on technical ability, especially with the way Brighton like to play out from the back.

Agree that Brighton will surely trigger the extra year but (and I appreciate I’m stating the obvious) that means he’s in the final year of his contract again, so it will be interesting to see what type of fee clubs are willing to pay... maybe not near his true worth...well, let’s hope not anyway !

Get this deal over the line, get another young CB at a similar level and it's the basis of a top half back 3.

Fadz has already told him if he wants to join just wait out a year and join on a free. If he’s told Brighton that will be his intention should they take the option then they might be happy for a modest fee with a hefty sell on clause attached rather than lose him for a small compensation fee in 12 months.

What is the point in Brighton triggering a year and for him to leave for nothing 12 months later? Just like Walshy.

Doing a deal this year, they get some money plus some sort of sell on action percentage. They could even use him as leverage in a Hamer deal, if the rumour is true.

If Osti and his agent make it clear to Brighton that he isn’t going to sign and wants first team football, then that should open up scope for a deal.

Why tie yourself to a prem club long term, when there is a real risk by the time they are ready for you to play in the first team they could have already been relegated 🤷‍♂️

Clubs are trimming their squads, due to financial pressures, they are looking at quality rather that quantity.
As far as Ostigard goes, he has publicly stated he wants first team football, and he ain't going to get that at Brighton, so why keep a player who is unhappy for a year, not play him, and see him walk away for nothing in a years time.

Brighton will Let him go now, and invest the wages on someone else. (Imo)

There's no way lmo will go to Brighton. If he comes to England it'll to be one of the big 5 clubs.

Leo was 20 when he started here,
He is a better defender overall than jack was at 23 playing at a higher level too .

Jack is a good passer of the ball but has several years on Leo.

I have no doubt ostigard has the attributes to make it to the top,he's playing consistently at a higher level at a younger age , Jack was playing for Swindon in league 1 at 20 /21 and by 23 was still playing in league 1

He has a better tackle success rate than kabasele at watford , and his pass accuracy effected by City having to mix it up rather than play it about the back like we did earlier on

Signing Ostigard for us would be a statement of intent and a real coup for the club. He progressed a lot from the start of this season!

The club wants to progress incrementally, but we could be in a really good position to do something similar Barnsley have done.

Covid has affected incomes I would think. Suspect a lot of clubs need to trim the fat on the playing squads.

You don’t improve your financial position by giving assets away for nothing.

If they aren’t intending to keep him then trigger his extension and sell him for a million quid or two.

They'd easily get a nice bidding war for him under those circumstances

But less money for a club to spend on his wages. It is not a normal close season. Who knows what their situation is but clubs across the country will not be making normal decisions.

They're not daft though, letting him go for nothing without even a sell-on included would be nonsensical. The realistic way of getting him will be for a low initial fee with a sell on

We don't know what triggering the extra year means wages wise. Didn't Bright go onto 20k a week at Wolves when they triggered his extension? I sure that was mentioned somewhere. Osti might be the same at Brighton and they might not want to commit the outlay.
