Striker suggestion:

Obbi Oularé at Standard Liege

Went to Watford as a Belgium U21 International for £6m

Is apparently open to a move to England, with Barnsley looking at him last transfer window. Similar mould to Dyke.

That's the type of player I'd want in to replace Max and his role within the squad.

Wonder if we could get that Nlundulu on loan from Southampton. Big lad made a few appearances for them.

Like this shout however he hasn’t played a lot of football in the last few seasons.

Todays wheel of bollocks is just for strikers. It found this a French guy with ok stats in the championship called

Max Biamou, Worth a punt......

There isn't a big ambient of out of contract strikers so esp under 30.

Ashley Fletcher

Fletcher is a strange one. Potentially top class, being both quick and strong, and is the right age for the type of player we look for. However his scoring record isn't the greatest, and remember watching him on the Sunderland Netflix documentary where he came across as not having the strongest character, struggling to deal with the pressures of replacing Grabban.

Not sure what wages he would be looking at, but given his potential he might not be the worst signing we could make.

Could be a few undervalued options in the French Ligue 1 this summer.

The Relegation battle is ridiculously tight & you have teams down there that spent big to try & stay up. After the TV deal collapsed there will likely be a few clubs needing to offload some decent players under their true value.

No Brexit issues going for players in those leagues?

I think it looks like this

The squad 2nd half of season = 24 (Bapaga excluded, as I don't think he got on the pitch). Assume:-
1. Include Sheaf
2. Exclude the loan outs - Mason, Kasta and Hilssner - no future
3. The squad size has to grow by two to cover an extra central defender and left wing back
4. Any outgoings are replaced.

The squad
Goalkeeeper 2: Out: Marosi?
Central defence 4 Out: Ostigaard In: one new plus Drysdale?
Right wing back 3 Out: Pask? In: Burroughs
Lefwing back 1 Out: MacCallum In: one new (Reid, probably not ready).
Midfield 6 Out:: Allen? James stays
Attacking midfield 3 Out: Jobello? In: Bapaga?
Striker 5 Out: Gyokeres, Max, Baka In: Tavares?

Required to fill the gaps = 8 players including James
Goalkeeper x 1
Central defender x 1
Left wing back x 2
Midfield x 2 including James
Attacking midfield x 0
Striker x 2

So they have to acquire three players (including james) plus 5 loans
Plus upgrades on the existing? Who knows?

Yeah, alluded to it on another thread a while ago that he was thought to be close to retirement as his head's just not in the game anymore.

To think certain posters who constantly slate our recruitment said we should have signed him this season 🤦🏼‍♂️

I presume he's settled in the area as its fairly close to Peterborough, the Spalding manager is an ex-teammate so looks like an opportunity to just play for fun. Hopefully a break will do him the world of good - it sounds like a similar situation to Kee at Accrington.

Sounds like a good move for all concerned. Hopefully he can get his head straight and start enjoying the game again.

Are we still allowed to call him a bit of a whopper because he was wearing a Fendi headband whilst playing?

I saw this but he’s signed for Middlesbrough. Starting to think our Embargo is hampering us a little bit

No loss in my opinion, don't think he's better than what we have.
Good shot stopper but very error prone & was dropped after the game against us ironically where he was at least partly at fault for 2 of our goals. Weak on crosses & was farmed out on loan to League One this season.

Walton is the much better option but might be a difficult one to secure.

Really like the look of Cade Cowell at Real Salt Lake. Only 17 but keep a watch out for him over next few years.
