Without sounding like a broken record, but do these fancy videos put any emphasis on leadership, communication and organisation? All very important attributes for a modern DMC

You don't need to watch the match .. you can just watch this in real time and judge the matches completely by In play stats. Is this where footy is going...mind you the game is gradually becoming more boring at the top , players like robots etc .

Not essential for a DMC alone, McFadzean offers these.

not entirely, watch or read Moneyball. The idea is to find players who are undervalued by traditional scouting methods.

more recently the the xG stat has become more prominent.

Actually an interesting concept that will benefit the have nots in the coming years

Fucking nerd. Give it a rest. So we only need one player with these attributes? What happened to having a spine to the team. Fucking stat nerd who has never ever played the game, or a decent level troll?!

Fuck off back to 1970 you c**t, the game has evolved. Just because you don’t understand the modern game - doesn’t mean we don’t.

our whole recruitment team is based on this, and thank fuck - we’d be stuck with the likes of Doyle and Biamou

He’s right though. Not all that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts.
Agreed but I would suggest that the stats do possibly pick up the qualities needed/required , just without directly being measured .
I mean for those with high levels in measurements those qualities must be part of what manifests itself?🤭😉

Yeah they’re useful for identifying things to look at you might otherwise miss, but ultimately you’re still looking for the same things.

As pointed out, we’re a data driven side. It’s the method behind our recruitment max

Did you know Sheaf lost the ball less than James and Kelly - 3 times less per game.

he also recovered the ball more than both of them.

the statistical method also sees Barnsley doing alright and Brentford
Its not about how many times the ball was lost it was where it was lost, we conceded goals when Sheaf lost the ball. He was poor best with out.

I think it's obvious you need to base your ideas around something that is going to measure positional play as well as combinational play.

Everything else is property of what's being measured or in the realms of subjectivity.

Never been a big fan of xG either by the way.

What happened to:-
Can he pass
Can he run
Can he head it
Can he shoot
Can he tackle

Can he play at wingback
Can he play at centre half
Can he play at centre midfield
Can he play at centre forward
Can he play anywhere.
