Looking at the 2 halfs of the draw if we get past Germany there is no excuse forvnot making the final

Anyway lads, this is the reason for all the right backs. Play them together to try and mark Gosens.

Just looked at the draw, we really are in the right half aren't we. As said above, beat Germany and the final is on.
Not sure how the draw ended up like that but we'll take it.

I just can't, if you are happy with the direction we are going then fair enough ...that's your opinion and I disagree .

If you want to keep Southgate if we fail , then that's fine ..

There are many of us who won't want to

Would losing to Germany in the Round of 16 be apocalyptic? Not really.

I’m advocating patience. If we see of Germany, and beat the winner of Ukraine/Sweden*, we would be in with a v good chance of another semi final.

Would you U-turn on your previous opinions on Southgate?

*Interesting that we were quick to discredit beating them in the WC. They’ve topped their group in their last 2 major tournaments containing Spain and Germany.

No it wouldn’t be apocalyptic, however I do think that bearing in mind we’re playing a team leagues above the ones we played in the group stages, the time has come to cut loose & show what we can do.

If we lose but put up a great performance, just a case of the better team won, that’s ok. But if we go out with a whimper I’d fear for the kind of backlash Southgate is going to get from people

If we lose to Germany he needs to go quite frankly

Certainly believe Germany is a winnable game and we've got more than enough attacking talent to cause them problems.

Trouble is we've got Southgate in charge who'll put them all on a leash to ensure we don't concede, will draw 0-0 and end up losing on penalties and we'll be left wondering what if we'd actually had a proper go at them.

Just as we beat Columbia on penalties to break the curse, beating Germany would give us a huge psychological boost for years to come.

We’re stronger defensively and I genuinely believe we can beat Germany. I just don’t think it’s a sackable offence, frankly.

There won't be many better chances to beat this German side, they almost look like they need a pummelling to cast off some of the dead wood along with Low who is well past his sell by date.

Take 1966 out of the equation and we have beaten the following teams in knockout tournament football:

Belgium (after extra time)
Cameroon (after extra time)
Denmark
Ecuador
Sweden
Columbia (penalties)
Paraguay
Spain (penalties)

We’ve lost to:
Uruguay
Brazil twice
Germany three times
Argentina twice
Portugal twice
Iceland
Croatia

And in 8 tournaments we’ve failed to get out of the group stage. It’s only really the tradition, the Premier League and the level of support for the game that classifies us as a major footballing nation, results wise we’re upper mid-table at best really.

About time we did something about that I reckon 💪

Agreed. I would absolutely love it if we humiliated Germany in the way they humiliated us in 2010.

I believe we would’ve beaten them in 2018 had we played them - but that’s conjecture.

They’ve conceded 5 goals in the group stages, so we need to exploit that shaky defence.

Yes, I am invoking Keegan here!

I see nothing to fear at all in Germany’s side. And I mean that I know full well it will be tough, but I think we have the beating of them if we play well.

Mentality will be key- Germany don’t give a toss for us, we can’t go into it treating it like a huge grudge match/ derby- “just another game along the way” needs to be the mantra

I don’t see too much dead wood tbh- just players at a level that we can match

I would say that key to victory is Kane v Hummels- we need Kane to get out of this slump he’s in and fast- he can win it for us or he can be nullified and end up handing the ball straight back to them. I don’t want to see him in his own half at all- if that happens then something is going badly wrong.

We can forget the previous three matches now- the time to deliver has well and truly arrived, put up or shut up. No what ifs, glorious defeats or excuses- just win at all costs, time to show us they’re not really overrated

I’ll ask again

How much do you wanna bet trippier starts over shaw Tuesday ? 🤣

What does that have to do with if Luke Shaw is poor? Is ever player who does start every game poor?

Let us leave your frankly weird defence in the bin and let us talk about why the best left back in the PL is or is not as you claim "poor".

My point was less about us and more about the present state of this German team and especially manager.

I won't feel sorry for Southgate and his £3m a year salary for churning out regular 6/10 performances, if we choke on the back of a turgid backwards/sideways display on Tuesday, I really don't want him in charge of Bellingham, Foden and co in future years. He is an intelligent, well spoken person, yet does not convince me that he can the best out of us. Would love him (or whoever) to be able to do so.

Not a chance we will beat Germany with our current approach. Play with a positive mentality and we have the players to destroy them.
