I'm just going off the responses to that survey. Clearly not a huge sample but worrying that people think that way at all.

Not sensationalist at all.

I had a mate visiting me who went absolutely ballistic when I said the the thought of wearing a mask for much longer wasn't something I wanted to do.

Told me 'it was a small sacrifice to make' and that apparently I was selfish for having such thoughts.

The same guy not two days later then changed the date on a month old PCR test so he could get on a plane without having to pay for a new one.

Apparently they've been told that you have to piss into a bag instead of using the public toilets down by the beach, then chuck the bags away at the end of the day, plus you're supposed to wear surgical gloves if using handrails, and all kinds of rules. I get the concerns but some of this stuff seems absolutely nuts & its crazy that people can't be relied upon to use common sense.

Only 37500 infections today so all set for complete opening up and removing all restrictions. Spare a though for the 500 or so who will suffer from long term symptoms. And no I don’t want to lockdown for ever I just want some sensible steps forward as well learn

Aren’t 80% of long term symptoms gone after 12 - 16 weeks? I haven’t checked but long term is 3 months of some symptoms isn’t it?

Sorry Pete, I hate the Tories and think they've handled everything badly, but there is no way that this delta variant could be realistically controlled within the standards of a free society. It looks like it will run wild in many places, not just here.

Patients in hospital at 8.00 am have nearly trebled in a month. I don't understand how they are going to stop this increase. 10 weeks or so away from the NHS to be under the same pressure it was when the pandemic was at its last peak.

It would be ok if the vaccine gave 100% immunity and didn’t wear off over time. Some of the vulnerable will be coming up to 9 months post-vaccination in less than 2 months.

The plan is boosters from September and, of course, if younger people have been vaccinated by then, spread will be substantially lower.

That being said...

I'm sure we had these conversations last summer, and in the run-up to Christmas.

Of course we hope vaccines do their thing, but it'd be a fool not to take note of such large %age increases, and not be keeping an eye on what happens going forward, especially in the next couple of weeks as before you know it, we're allowing people to hug and kiss others on tube trains, so inevitably it'll go up at that stage. I'm still wondering if masks on public transport / shops end up compulsory after all, when it comes to the detail on Monday - if nothing else than to make the spread manageable for health services. In that respect, keeping an eye on trends is important...

Interestingly I know a few people who have been jabbed twice and have had Covid after jab 2. The odd thing is they have had the second jabs fairly recently but over the 3 week period

How many people are admitted and released from hospital on the same day ?

My mate was twice .. then ended up actually in ICU on the 3rd

He also had long covid , so he returned to work after a month , but struggled with fatigue for a further 2 or 3 months

As mentioned, certainly not 100% effective. If, however, you can restrict prevelance, and those people who end up catching Covid are mainly AOK, then all is good...

Indeed. An obvious consequence of changing some state, is the risk of changing the state in some other way. The aim is for it to be low risk, after all.

At a time when we need as many as possible vaccinated to reduce spread however, it isn't helpful.

Agreed. I saw this a few hours after getting the Pfizer and admit that it made me feel worried. It’s good to be aware but it’s hardly going to encourage those who are hesitant.

Me too. It is pretty weird.

I've barely known anyone to have had it over 15 months but 3 that have caught it after having had the second vaccination.
