Of course it is weird.
World wide pandemic and I barely know anyone that has had it. Then within the last 6 weeks I know 3 people that have gone down with it and they've all been double vaccinated.

Yeah because we’ve been locked down and had a variant that wasn’t as transmissible. It’s not weird. Honestly. It’s basic stats.
Vaccination prevents serious illness not infection in most cases and there are more cases and people moving around more. CCFC have COVID now after a season without for the same reasons.
That’s what happens when you lift lockdown while a more virulent strain is about

One uses deactivated virus, the RNA ones don’t, they’re the new one that just teaches your body what to make without the virus (had this explained by my missus when I wasn’t paying full attention so stand to be corrected)

You obviously have your own mind made up and that's fine, but considering the peaks we've had and the way I don't really know anyone to have suffered from it, to now knowing several who have also been vaccinated, then it does feel strange to me personally.
Also - vaccination doesn't prevent infection in most cases?

Yes, that is also the point I am making. None of them simply tested positive or couldn't taste their breakfast. They were really sick.
I'm also not sure about how the body reacts to a vaccination if it already has antibodies.

8 people at I house party someone I know went to have come down with it and all are laid up in bed with it. Don’t know who has or hasn’t had the vaccine. This strain is more transmissible. We are probably all going to have this experience.

Evidence was the immune response is better after one shot if you had antibodies already. Don’t think the second shot made any difference.
Maybe your mates would’ve been in ICU had they not been vaccinated?

The age profile of hospitalised people of the delta variant is much lower than the previous variant isn’t it?
Regardless, why would this be impacting your mates and not the millions of elderly we’ve just vaccinated? The vaccine is clearly working as the disconnect between cases and deaths has shown.

Missus got a message from her mate this morning to say that her first vaccine was from one of the non-approved batches and we had ours at the same place and in the same week.
Just checked ours............and our first one is also from one of the non-approved batch.
There goes my plans of jumping on a plane in the last week of July. Also, could potentially fuck me up for work travel as well.
Boris saying it is nothing to worry about and they have all been approved by the MHRA. Which makes me worry more.

They more than likely still wouldn’t have been in hospital or dead vaccinated or not to be fair. The more infectious strain still stands though. We are going to see more people infected. Still I’d much rather be vaccinated and get it than not vaccinated and get it.

I think there were a few thousand (hundred thousand?) batches of the AZ vaccine which were manufactured in India - the EMA views it as a different vaccine to ‘normal’ AstraZeneca as a result, so it’s not recognised by their vaccine passport program.

Basically, from what I have read, these batches were produced in India and not the EU/UK so do not have the relevant approval from the EMA.
So basically up to something like 5 million Brits May have had the unapproved vaccine. AZ said they are seeking approval, EMA saying there is no application for market authorisation.
Looks like the Greeks don’t give a fuck as they have approved the Russian and Chinese one so Malia here we come!

Its not a surprise that there's people on here who know people now getting covid is it? We've been opening things up which has led to a rise in cases among groups that are mixing. Just look at the numbers from educational settings.
Obviously there's a need to open things up but its concerning the way the numbers are all going the wrong way and our response seems to be to just make it a free for all, struggling to get my head round it. You can open things up but still keep some basic precautions in place. That's what the experts have been saying for months would be needed in order to live with it and we seem to have suddenly changed our plans and headed off in a direction no other country is going in. Israel are ahead of us with vaccinations but once the Delta variant took hold they had to reintroduce masks and now there is talk of bring back further restrictions.

Would seem to me that with uncertainty everywhere, but a general consensus that the shit is about to royally hit the fan, you’d want to be a bit careful and take precautions, not throw caution to the wind.

So as long as they’re well off and working from home they’re fine. What about the other 60% of the country? Risk is shared, bubbling doesn’t work, we learned that first time around. Risk is shared in a pandemic, even if it upsets your teenage political sensibilities.
