It isn't whatsoever. Otherwise by the same logic every transfer made by Robins should automatically be an upgrade. Whilst that might be the intention it's never really that simple. So, yes it's a ridiculous arguement to make.
I support Robins explicitly, however I'm not one to sit back and gush over every signing and think everything the club do is wonderful.
But this is my exact point? How do you know he's an upgrade when there isn't actually any evidence to prove this? His lack of experience for his age doesn't particularly fill me with confidence, nor does his pedigree. I find it bizarre that people choose to openly ignore this and instead take up the position of 'Robins signed him so he has to be an upgrade'.
Reading between the lines I have a feeling he may not be our outright first choice either. I think that's probably backed up by the rumours from
@Frostie and
@better days that Robins is/was potentially looking at bringing another GK in. Whether that's still in Robins' plans I'm not sure but if it is, I suspect he's probably looking at two keepers to compete for the No.1. shirt. Why would he do that if Moore is a significant upgrade on what we've had previously? This is something Robins' maybe had to look at as I don't think Moore was his first choice - I suspect Walton from Brighton was but his wages apparently were a significant roadblock to getting the deal over the line therefore we missed out.
This is why we can't definitively say whether he's an upgrade at this point, as there's too many question marks surrounding him at the minute. Realistically we're going to have to wait and see how Moore performs until we can make a definitive assessment on him as we actually know very little about his ability to cope at this level.
