I don't watch tennis so my opinion is worthless but she looked really good.

Although I spent most of the match wondering how they could both hit the ball so hard.
I watch and play a lot and believe me she is outstanding

Wow, what a match. Absolutely amazing, 18 years old, not dropped a set through qualifying and the tournament to win. First man or woman qualifier to make a majors final, now gone and won it. No immortalised in history and only going to get better.

She will inspire a new generation of players.

*Correction - She will 'inspire' yet another generation of privileged middle class kids to at least give it a go.

Haha - made me want her to win even more (not that that was possible) when Fernandez started whingeing

Absolutely…thought it a great match but at that moment wanted Fernandez and her family to have their noses rubbed in the dirt.

But what was she moaning about. It’s still bleeding ffs
You'd assume that as with pretty much every other sport these days if there's bleeding you have to stop and sort out the issue so not even a case of should could have played on if she wanted to.

Yep Leylah was going to turn it round if not for that break, like she had against the serve in all the games.

Garbage, his parents were both English. Lots of kids born overseas on military bases and completely different scenario as you're well aware. I only said best fit of three already. Butcher had Singapore or England. She had Canada, Romania or China.

Rad has no English heritage and wasn't born in England. If she can choose to be English then it's pointless having nations at all in sport.
No way. She is as English as you and I. She came here at 2 years old ffs. Listen to her speak! She's english! Had our education system. Probably doesn't even have a memory of living in Canada. Rethink this one Rob

And well fucking done Emma. Made the country proud!

I have to confess I'm not much into tennis, but what an amazing story for this young lady. She's got the world at her feet.

Fucking brilliant.

I drank a bottle of red wine tonight for the first time ever. Think it was in the realisation that I'm older than the age of both the finalists put together.

But what an inspiration Raducanu will be for young girls. Amazing, amazing.
