Agreed Coundon, SISU have been here since 2007, there are few if any players left even from before the Ranson time over 1 year ago.
Most of those who remain signed extensions since RR left. So is he is saying is Ken Orange's contracts were badly designed.

I'm surprised that as many as 10% want to reward failure.

Thank god Astute has his brain switched on! New staff wold be on new contracts. All staff playing and non playing would have offered new contracts with a 90 day consultation period. Some during this time decided to pursue options elsewhere and good luck to them.

As for SISU honouring contracts they clearly did last year since they paid £1m in bonuses! Failure should not result in more pay. I know of no other profession that rewards failure as much as football.

I know for a fact that Sunderland players got £250k for finishing 10th in the premier league! A quarter of a Million for 10th! Football is truly screwed! No wonder Westwrd is happy keeping he benh warm!

They shouldn't get bonus. The only reason anyone should get bonuses is if you excel at your job for a whole year/season and the company/club are doing better as a direct result of your input.

So it was done After last season and before this season starts. so when was it best done? They have released and sold and re-negotiated with those remaining. It has taken 3 weeks so far, how are we to know it wasn't first done 3/4 weeks prior to that. It has dragged on but pre-season is the perfect time surely!

Maybe best done and dusted well before, 4 days before the new season kicks off.
I know it sounds crazy but reckon that may have been an idea. Season ended 3 months ago.

More than enough time to be resolved, either way and not have this crap disrupting a good pre-season.

As I posted earlier by law if any part of a contract changes there needs to be a 90 day consultation period at least. We had one that was 6 months to change our final salary pension. We were in talks for twice the amoubt of time needed by law. If they would have started just after we got relegated when they notice how much it still cost them then the consultation period would be over about now.

Sounds as though they paid nearly enough in bonuses for failing that would have paid the rent for a year. No wonder our losses were still high.

We started avoiding the rent payments in April, would that not have also been the time to start reviewing players contracts?

Maybe didn't want to p!ss the players off until we were down for sure.

Dowie and Flowers were sacked for no reason.....Their contracts weren't honoured, were they?
Staff cutbacks...Their contracts weren't honoured, were they?
£30m promised for CCFC on SISU takeover....This promise wasn't honoured, was it?
In short mate....SISU are a f*****g disgrace.
If you think differently, I would suggest you did some research.

So it would have been redundancy or contract paid up. Even SISU can't beat employment laws.

The managers were not sacked - they were put on gardening leave - so the contacts were honoured.

Employees made redundant were given redundancy payments - part of any employees contract -honoured.

Money has been put into the club and badly managed. Does mean they havent put it in.

Alot of users on this forum want administration - contracts will not be honoured and redundancy payments will not be made and the rent wont be paid.

No new owner will agree to pay £1.2m for rent.

I chose yes, the only reason I would imagine someone would choose no. Would be that this is the contract they signed up for. SISU trying to change terms and conditions of contracts and using bully boy tactics to do it.
They gave the contract they should honour it.
New signings should be given new terms.
Players may have missed other opportunities or not gone different directions due to that contract offer. Then the club try to alter it half way through.
What is the point of the contract.

Very strange how SISU haven't been taken to court for theft!
The money that was used to pay ACL rent was put into the trust before they took charge of the club.
They have let somebody elses money pay for THEIR RENT, then expect ACL to lower the rent because they couldn't be a***d to speculate on decent players to keep us in the Championship......SISU signed a contract to pay ACL a fixed rent. A contract they have dishonoured. I know we are in league div 1....no lets say it right...the old league division 3. I also agree we should pay less rent, but refusing to pay anything at all is suicide. If they went about things in the right way, I'm 100% sure ACL would have compromised....but not now.

The escrow account was empty when sisu took over.

The agreement was signed in 2004.

The Escrow account was used to pay ACL the rent while SISU refused to honour the contract. Try researching mate. How do you think ACL were paid???......Try looking back over the last couple of months and actually READ what is written!!!
It was set up for just such an occassion that SHITSU perpetrated.

Account Soon To Be Empty
It is understood that an escrow account set up for Coventry City's monthly rent for their usuage of the Ricoh Arena, could be empty in a matter of months.
The account was set up as a form of financial protection for both the club and Arena Coventry Limited.
With the rent not being paid for the last three months, ACL have been forced to withdraw from this account and it is understood that there are only a couple of months worth left in the account.

Yes I know. Sisu put the money into the account because it was empty when they took over. You are trying to say they stole the money that was in the account.

The escrow account was also use once last year due to a late payment.

I have done my research.

LMFAO......You really haven't got a clue, have you!!!!

The escrow account was set up years before SISU took charge of CCFC. SISU haven't put one penny into that account....but they have fooking emptied it though.
Anybody else on here who could show this misguided person where he is wrong?
I really don't mind if one of my posts are challenged, and when I'm wrong, I put my hands up.....but this time mate, I feel embarassed for YOU!

Sorry but you are not reading what I have posted.

The escrow account was empty when Robinson left!

He used it to pay the rent when we nearly went into administration.

This account was set up in 2004 but was empty when sisu took over.

I never mentioned anything about this so why mention my name?

But as you have asked I will reply. To be done for theft you need to take something that don't belong to yourself and have no right to possess. They didn't take the money and don't possess it. No theft has occured so they can't be done for theft.

Quite simple when you think about it.

I also never intoned that you said anything about this. It seems you tend along with a couple of others to go out of your way to make comments about my posts, why is that?

Have a look above where I quoted what you said. I had just quoted two other posters. Do they think I am picking on them?

If I feel a need to answer a question or I think you have incorrectly made a statement I will quote you. Just the same for everyone else. Just as I hope people will do for me.

Yes, I'm wondering that. A "no" could obviously mean that voters DO think we should pay players for failure and mediocrity. It's probably just an anti-SISU thing though, I would imagine. SBK is a good example with his ludicrous "theft" comment.

Out of interest if you've chosen No, whats your reasoning behind it?

Bully boy tactics? Christ on a bike... If what you say is the case then surely clubs shouldn't offer players new contracts half way through and fans shouldn't then moan and complain if players run those contracts down and leave, should they?

This club has been relegated, we have no money. Fans say "I'm not going until SISU go" so our income is dropping. The players who played a massive part in getting us relegated shared ONE MILLION POUNDS in bonuses between them. I cannot see how any rational fan would think they deserved it.

@ Torchomatic....Regarding "Bully boy tactics" blah,blah, blah.

Nobody is saying that SISU are doing the WRONG thing....It's the way they are doing it!
If they have signed contracts with the players on any kind of bonus or apps money, they should honour them.
As Astute has eloquently pointed out, 90 days period to sort out the contracts is needed. NOW! if SISU had entered into contracts with any player/s beforehand...these must be honoured, end of!.........knowing what Joy and the crew are about, they would sell their grandmother if it made them a profit. So, honouring a contract is something they know nothing about...Rent...comes to mind!

But you don't know when the negotiations started. If it was illegal then the PFA would be involved. As I said previously, similarly players should NOT be offered contract extensions then, should they? All contracts should just run down, so either a player goes cheaply or for free. Guess what, you'd be on here moaning about that!

You're one of the ones who would be shuffling if they put us into administration. I bet you're itching for it, so you can come on here and complain.

The players don't deserve bonuses as they have previously been paid them. You heard about this on Monday, the players will have known for a while. They seem to be sitting down with SISU and sorting it out, so they'll be satisfied and the club won't be paying out money it can ill afford on bonuses. Surely, even you want Coventry City to be solvent?
