At the match today. I don't think I can give individual ratings, just observations and point out good performers.

Central defence and Moore very good. MOM for me was Sheaf. Strange substitutions that made us less effective. Overall both sides could claim that game was there for the taking.
A point is fine. We are a very decent team in a hard league. A bit lucky to hang on in the end, we could have won it earlier though for sure.

I didn’t think Hyam and Rose were that great and it was them bringing on mcgoldrick that changed momentum - we struggled at that point on

Mostly agree with that but think a bit harsh scoring Hyam lower, I'd give him 7 too.

Hamer was controlling the middle but I was concerned for him and think it should've been a straight swap with Kelly leaving the extra man in the middle. Front subs offered nothing should've been for last 10 not last 30. Robins had it spot on tactically until he changed it.
Damned if he's does, damned if he doesn't really.
So often knocked for not being proactive or tardy with substitutions.
I'd also have only made the one change but we got the result the previous 60 mins projected.

The mcgoldrick substitution added to bringing godden ,walker on did change the last quarter of the game to there advantage.
I think we should play the box away from home a lot more as we look very good at the system.

It’s the same with many fans here. Look like you put a shift in and you are ok.
Effort (or perceived effort) over ability is the way

Every team needs a mix of both -sublime and ugly. But every really top class side has effort all the way through the side. Top class sides graft for each other full stop. The sublime bits just make the highlights package.

Sheaf and hamer both good today. I don't particularly get the hamer hype, but today I saw it!

Question: why isn't o hare smashing that in for the dive/pen. Haven't seen it back but in real time he surely needs to just shoot

McFadzean is such an asset. Every week I say “Fadz is an 8/10 unless he’s a 1/10”, and those 1/10 games have been probably 2 or 3 in his entire time here. Such a good signing. I always think he’s gonna start declining due to age, and he continues to deliver. Will be hugely missed. Best centre back we’ve have had in a long time. Sheaf was superb. Moore made some crucial stops. Kane’s delivery is so threatening. Interesting choices at full back Tuesday. Robins misjudged the subs, very rare for him to get it quite so wrong. Still came away with a point. On to blues.

I agree. Always been a McFadz fan right from the get go. But there are chinks appearing - main one pace. We need to source a replacement going forward. At the age where the legs will go before the heart and passion.

Thought Kane was excellent but then so was Dabo. Fabulous goal saving header

I know what your saying :- Kane. V dabo. Both really good attacking full backs. Just a pity they' both want to play the same side.
I thought dabs was showing his displeasure ( fancy Dan ) today by doing the minimum without letting the team down.

Of course he wanted us to win but I'm sure he's not happy being pushed over to the left.
Think Kane is good, but never never under estimate dabo. Top mam.

Yes that crucial block header showed to me that he was doing the minimum too. As well as those runs all match.

Just don't think he's happy playing on the left. As I said he would never do anything to let his team mates or supporters down. I love the guy just want him to be comfortable in his role
He is such a good player .

Anybody whos seen any of our away games would concurr with that. Just cannot, completely over run in midfield as soon as extra midfielder went off.

We were in control and limited them to Nothing with the box and just Gyro upfront.

One cross from Dabo where Allen had a great chance and we should have had a pen was magnificent
After the ridiculous substitutions we created nothing. Couldnt string 2 passes together.

If it isnt broke it dont need fixing. Boy did we get out of jail that last 25 mins.

But didn’t look like scoring
Erm we created nothing after that. We had chances to win and limited them to nothing before substitutions.

Were you not watching?

Another 10-15 mins of them not creating nothing and the crowd would have git on their back. Fucking abysmal tactics.

Felt like we were playing with 9 men after the substitutions. Same thing happened at QPR but we lost as soon Walker/Godden come on. We were in complete control until Gyro went off. Waghorn played a bit deeper that game.

Yep we were worse after the changes but we didn’t look like scoring before. I don’t think he’ll try that again with the same players. It should have worked better than it did and it didn’t

This is nonesense.
He tried a different avenue which is often demanded on here and we didn't lose from it .

Hindsight.

Not sure he means the shape Wingy, Gyo going off combined with taking a man out of midfield was likely to give us less control of the ball and as it turned out we couldn’t really get out of our half. Allen staying on instead of Sheaf also seemed a bit curious given how both were faring at the time.

I'd certainly start Kane Tuesday and look at Maatsen as an option if the game is stretched in the second half.

I assumed Sheaf and Gyo were tired. No other reason to take off our two best players on the day.
I thought at the time it was a strange formation change…that their change of formation hadn’t done anything to improve them, and that as the game wore on we were likely to find more space upfront as a consequence.

Neither of them looked tired for me, and they’ve just had 2 weeks’ break. We defended pretty heroically at the end, which we likely wouldn’t have managed last season-so that’s good. Just feel the combination of changes left us with nobody to hold the ball up at the front and one less man to compete in midfield.

First half it was a model away performance just missing the final cutting edge. We should persist with it but really work on the play in the final third.

With an eye on Tuesday I think.
