Transfer Rumour Robins at the wheel? (3 Viewers)

Ole and his blind cheeriness was the perfect antidote to the poisonous cloud Mourinho left around the place. But they kept him way too long it was clear he didn't have a clue tactically and was to nice to handle egos and make big decisions

Potter would be a decent long term choice but he won't be foreign enough for United fans.

It’s nothing to do with being foreign it’s to do with being unproven at winning silverware at the level they are at and competing with big rivals as well as being able to have kudos and respect of the players

United's chase of a manager is similar to how they recruit players. They want an easy fix, a big name because that's what the market wants.

I don't know if it's the American owners but their recent policy has been far more akin to US sport, where it's all about bringing in the big name and having a 'franchise' player than building a decent team.

*I know their NFL team are current champions but Brady is a star name but sees the bigger picture and seems to be willing to accept a lower wage than he could get in order to have more money to spend on the team around him.

it’s nothing to do with that though is it?

it’s a manager with zero experience playing out of form players like shaw and McGuire as well as Rashford - obsessed with Tominey - freezing other players out

Ronaldo is I assume who you refer to but without his goals where would they be?

They should of pulled the trigger after the Liverpool or Man City drubbings. They could of got Conte then. On the + side Giggs is currently unemployed and the Neville brothers could do what the Cowleys have done. 😀😀

Conte is the Italian Tony Pulis, boring boring football.

I think Giggs is still employed by Wales bizarrely, just suspended until the court case plays out.

Giggs could be going to prison - he’s finished - clearly a vile person

I'm not saying it's the only reason but it does seem like their transfer policy isn't based on building a team designed to win things but individuals that have a big name.

The things you're talking about are true, but where have they brought in other options? Defensively they seem to skimp to buy exciting attackers (except for Maguire who I think they just paid a fortune for to make it look like they weren't neglecting the defence. I don't think anyone thought he was worth the amount they paid for him)

I agree about McTominay but he just seems to be the natural successor to Tom Cleverly in I can't see why he plays as much as he did. For a club like Man U a player like that should be a back-up squad member.

Have said before but it’s like Arsenal’s transfer policy of the late 2000s early 2010s.

They've been like it for a lot longer than that, going back to the Ferguson years. They ceased to be a football club in the late 90s

Agree that it needs an overhaul from top to bottom but, let’s have it right. In no other scenario would Utd (or any top 5/6 premier league club*) hire a manager whose CV consisted of failure at Cardiff and (I presume) some success in a pub league. Was a dreadful appointment from the off.

*Lampard similar although perhaps less bizarre given he did well in his one season with Derby and was still a relatively newly retired player. But also a shite appointment for an elite club.

Isn't Lampard's work at Derby tainted, now we know he wasn't playing with a fair financial deck compared to the rest of the Championship?

As for Utd -what a mess. Conte and Poch were available, but they stuck with a 'legend'. The result? 2 clean sheets in 12 games and a team that can't press to save their lives. This season is a write off for them, I expect Villarreal to virtually end their Champions League hopes on Tuesday and after that they have Chelsea, LOL!

Fair. You could go one further and say he should have done better given they were cheating and the money available.

How about going to PSG and saying you can have Pogba in Jan (the guy clearly isn't going to sign an extension) if they let them hire Poch. Then that clears the way for Zidane to manage PSG.

A lot of moving parts but might be a good move for everyone involved.

Their transfer policy (if they have one) has been crazy. They seem to spend 10s of millions on attackers (some in wages)…and end up with mctominay, Fred and matic as their options in central midfield. I don’t know how much ole had to do with that…but he’s rubbish anyway. Ask Cardiff fans…

Good news for United fans Michael Carrick is now at the wheel as they don’t seem to have a replacement ready.

There has been a lot of briefing going on, Pochettino and Ten Hag reported to be interested at the end of the season.

The bookies settle the interim as permanent manager after 10 games, Carrick 5/1…

I have just seen that Sol Campbell has said the best man for the job is Steve Bruce in a temporary role. We think we all know the real reason Sol doesn’t get the top jobs he thinks he deserves 🤪
