The whole thing is a nonsense and makes no sense. The way that taking an LFT is seen as some sort of compromise when actually it is by far the most sensible measure. A recent negative test trumps a meaningless QR code when most of the current spread is through vaccinated people in any case.

I'm very much against the passports - not comfortable with a 'show your papers' society and segregation by medical history; I'm not sure this sort of thing has served humanity well in the past. But, I'll take an LFT don't think it will harm attendances much at all.

The poor turnout Saturday will have much more to do with the time of year. Last game before Xmas = shit turnout. This fixture was picked out by many in the summer, people were saying why the fuck is the Stoke game being made Cat A a week before Xmas, it'll be a shit crowd. And it will. Saw it coming a mile off.

i just dont get it... fuck everything else "cos its xmas" i'm off to see City like i do every other week.

What's so important you miss the game?.... oh yes ....shopping or a poncy rip off Xmas market to keep her happy.

You could just pretend to take a lateral flow test if it’s that much of an issue for you. Get a box of them and just scan the QR code as negative…

It’s no reason to end your season.

I actually think the poor crowd is just as much down to our recent poor form at home.

The fans who had returned to the Ricoh for the West Brom, Birmingham and Swansea games were disappointed. Those are the type to stay away under more challenging circumstances.

Funnily enough, the atmosphere was disappointing in the West Brom game and a return to a smaller crowd may help.

I'm not going on Saturday. Off on a big foreign trip next week for Christmas and New Year's, and only just got the booster, so I've decided not to risk it. Feel shit about it tbh.

may be the lowest for a while but i would be surprised if its anything less than 18k still, which all things considered is still excellent

Don't get all the negativity to be honest, and i dont know anybody that is not going because they have to test or show vaccine proof

Must say, the missus doesn't want us to go Saturday. Its so close to Christmas and it would be shit if we caught it and had to self isolate and ruin Christmas.

I mean of course, you could all infect each other at Christmas indoors all day as opposed to being mostly outside at a football stadium.

Well 80,000 had positive tests yesterday. Could be another 100k today and tomorrow.

Doesn't take much to work out that will be a fair few isolating on Saturday.

Sunderland are expecting 34,000 Saturday. One of their highest attendances this season.

Maybe Covid hasn't reached them.

Good chance a few have been instructed by their other halves not to go and risk screwing up Christmas.

There must have been people who picked it up at games before. When the ONS throw around figures like 1 in 60 people currently have it law of averages says there must be people at games with it and with very few masks in sight and people packed together in the concourse & stands it has to have spread there at some point.

In Reality numbers are much much higher than those declared to have the virus. So many unsymptomatic who unknowingly spread it.

Most clubs have a bumper gate between Christmas and New Year. That's very much on trend.

Sunderland's 3 lowest home turn outs this season have been in their last 3 games.
