It is already happening, it's the isolation rules causing more issues at the minute rather than the actual symptoms and illness.

Again, need to look at the bigger picture than "everybody hide and shit themselves, 200k cases". The vast majority of that 200k are now going to be off work for a week when otherwise they would have been at work.

Can you really not see the issues or are you just looking at how many cases every day?

It is hiding from it, making tens / hundreds of thousands of people stay off work when they would otherwise be there.

You need to put the horse before the cart. The route cause of isolation is infection. Isolation is a means to slow infection which in turn ultimately reduces isolation.

Actually they aren’t. Seasonal flu is an influenza virus (clue is in the name). Only about half of the known common cold viruses are coronavirus’ and none of them are anywhere near as transmissible as covid 19 (especially the current variant) and none of them are anywhere as near as deadly. You certainly don’t get people suffering from long cold 12 months later as they do with long covid.

The only commonality between covid and seasonal flu is they’re both respiratory illnesses so in some cases the symptoms are similar.

It doesn't take alarmed percentage of 200k to be very ill for it to be an issue though

Where's the empathy for those waiting even longer for a social care visit or for a police officer to attend or for an ambulance?

I know someone who had a 41 hour wait in A&E over new year while they tried to find some staff who could help section her brother!

My partner is working with covid positive patients on a daily basis now, including those in the ICU. Her and her colleagues are beyond worried about catching it and passing it onto older parents, grandparents etc.

Not a single PCR test available within 50 miles of Cov when I booked earlier so now waiting on a home test. Have been showing symptoms since Monday and was in close contact with someone who has now tested positive so I guess I’m going to be isolating until Friday at the earliest before I’m likely to get a PCR result.

If you need to book again in future I'd recommend to keep checking back every hour or so, we needed to try one on Monday and it was offering Worcester as the closest and then suddenly the entire day's worth at Birmingham Airport appeared out of nowhere

I'm actually astonished by the lack of empathy by some on this forum.

I think there’s a conversation to be had for asymptomatic infection and transmission. I don’t know if there’s a different answer but I’d like to see some arguments. Omicron seems to come on quicker and pass quicker. Where’s the models? Even if Boris and the boys said it this is the chosen policy.
I’m none too happy with the line it’s going well, let’s keep on keeping on.

Yeah, that's right. The first restrictions came in about two months ago, but we have been under full lockdown for about a month now. Not even my football team is training.

It's definitely been the hardest one, and probably contributes to me having a different view to some on here. I wouldn't wish it on anybody.
