Away priority from next season (12 Viewers)

If, for the sake of argument, I lived in Derby but had a season ticket for CCFC home matches, I may only be interested in going to away games in the Midlands.
Why shouldn't I get equal access to away tickets as those who travel all over.
Not everyone has enough money, free time from work and family commitments to go to every away game as well as every home game.
This is unnecessary discrimination and open to abuse because we all know people will supply spares to family and friends when they personally can't go.

I dislike loyalty schemes when supply is limited. Imagine if your local takeaway had a membership scheme for Friday/Saturday nights. Madness.
Reward loyal away fans in other ways, eg. Half price bring a +1 to selected home games.

If you can’t see why a fan who travels all over vs one that can only be arsed to travel within the Midlands deserves higher priority for away tickets then I don’t know what to tell you.

I’ve only done 3 away games this season for various reasons (often out of my control) so I know I’d be well down the pecking order when it comes to the smaller allocations, but that doesn’t stop me understanding that a loyalty scheme is the only way to manage it fairly.

It’s not discrimination as unlike race, gender, sex and disability - living in Derby isn’t a protected characteristic..

People that go to more games, should be rewarded in priority over those that only want to do the local or glamour games. So in theory, if you want equal access to local derbies and the big Cup games, you’re going to have to equal the effort….and go to some of the away games beyond an hours drive of your house.

I'm in favor of a points system for tickets next season, probably as I missed out on Bournemouth and I'd been to every other game. But seriously most premier league clubs do it and a large number of championship clubs. It doesn't need to favour ST holders either. I used to be a member of England supporters club for years, you got 1 cap for a home game and 2 for an away. No reason we can't do the same thing. Forest and Sheff Utd have this system and they also save a small percentage of the tickets to away games for a ballet. Needs to be 1 ticket per person though.

I imagine we have about 500 hardcore supporters going to every single game so i believe it would work.

If the City bring in a loyalty programme for the away games next season I hope its one like the England Travel Club then.
Join the travel Club, get points based on games attended, for England games you re awarded Caps, 2 per home game and 2 for away games.
Same Caps/points per home and away. Highest Cappers / points get option to buy away tickets, very fair way of obtaining tickets.
Would nt upset season ticket holders ( like me) who expect first chance at the away games.
Pusb.

Season ticket holders must always take priority

If this happens, what’s the actual incentive of buying a season ticket? Well, apart from the obvious like saving money.

people need to stop crying like spoilt bitches because they can’t go to Southampton. Get a grip FFS.

loads of phase 1 ST holders didn’t get tickets either. Who cares if you’ve been to every fucking away game but not a ST holder, obviously financially sound so buy a Season ticket.

season ticket holders SHOULD get priority. They paid 300 quid not knowing if they were going to be allowed to attend games.

it’s not like the club make it hard to bury a ST. They even do monthly direct debit if you can’t afford in one hit.

Ive got tickets for the cup game but I was one of the lucky ones, I missed out on Bournemouth tickets but I’m not fucking crying about it, I accept we are on the rise as a club and say fair play to the lucky ones who got through.

Isnt the whole problem that STH don’t get priority but instead supporters clubs do?

Pretty much all away day regulars are season ticket holders anyway from my experience

Away games should give you between 1 and 3 points, Saints, Bournemouth Fulham etc. should be 1, Boro or Swansea on a Tuesday night 3 and a regular game 2.

Season ticket holders start with 10 points so get priority if they want but those that go away regularly will soon pass it.

If there is oversubscription for a game like Bournemouth then those with top priority that missed out get first preference over those that attended for the next big one e.g. Fulham Blues.

Why is he waiting until next season?

I'm already dreading the scenario this season this season..(hypothetical but probable) of trying to get tickets for in the scenario we make play offs for the away leg. A 4000 allocation max.

Will be pretty pissed off as we been to 90% of away league matches for the last 5 years (morecambe...Carlisle...etc). And going to Middlesbrough this weekend from London.

Pretty much already said to my son. We wont be missing it as we will pay hundreds for those tickets on black market in play off away leg scenario.

Should be implemented ASAP.

I thought the England caps awarded more caps to the home games?

ST holders should get priority, financial commitment to the club should be rewarded more than those that just go to away games.

I agree with what an earlier poster said
1) ST Holders with Away Membership
2) ST Holders
3) Away Members only
4) General sale.

should be 1 per ST holder. Although with the Southampton game - they should have prioritised ST holders that went to the derby game first

For the England Travel Club its most deffinately , 2 caps both home and away.

Like it or not ,the life blood of any Football club is season ticket holders. A club like ours needs more supporters at home than away for the income.
Why buy an away membership when you could buy a home season ticket ?

I go to away games, I was at Morcambe Accrington etc , have nt got a Southampton ticket but I had a chance to buy as a season ticket holder. I m not throwing my teddy out of the pram. I would always prioritise the home matchs.

If they do change the way allocation for away tickets is done like a point system.

100% guarantee season ticket sales will drop by 20%.

I buy a ST on the basis of having priority for away tickets, granted I only do about 6/7 away a season.

I think having a points system which takes into account ST holders will increase season ticket sales.

I can tell you’ve still not read any of the posts from the first page of this thread if you believe the opposite.

Season ticket holders pay for the season in advance and give the club some guaranteed working capital.
Whilst I acknowledge that the regular away supporters, who don't have a ST should have access to tickets. The ST holders should get some form of preferential treatment, but I would support the limiting of one ticket per ST.
I am a ST holder, but didn't get a Southampton ticket - my bad luck. So good luck to the rest of the SBA

I would assume because people could argue they'd purchased a season ticket based on it giving them priority access to away matches. Not an issue if they announce the changes to the rules before selling season tickets for next year.

A season ticket holder who attends one away game in 5 years should have far more priority than a non season ticket holder whose attended every away game in 5 years

I think every club that has a loyalty scheme does ST + away games priority.

It would mean that a ST holder who has done every away game would be guaranteed a Southampton ticket over a ST holder who has decided that Southampton will be their only away trip of the season.

At the moment both of these people have the same priority access to away tickets which is incredibly unfair for the lower allocations or higher demand games.

The issue is there’s 11,000 season ticket holders. When there’s only 5000 tickets available, how do you select the 5000? Saying ST holders should get priority doesn’t solve that conundrum….

Currently the priority is:
1) Phase 1 ST Holder in a Supporter’s Club
2) Phase 1 ST Holder (fastest finger first on ticketmaster)
3 Phase 2 ST Holder (fastest finger first on ticketmaster)
And so on and so on.

There needs to be a better way of prioritising ST holders when we have far more than the 1500 tickets Bournemouth or 5000 tickets Southampton could give us.

I missed out on Bournemouth too so I get your points mate.

Unless they have changed it since 2018 when i stopped following England away then it was always 1 for Home and 2 for away.

It’s changed several times in the last 15 years mate. It’s now 2 for home games and 2 for away. For the tournaments and Scotland Away tickets you have to put the yards in.

I can’t get excited about Qatar but putting the yards in now for Germany 2024.

Dont you essentially start with a clean slate after every tournament? For example I didn’t think caps towards Germany 2024 would start being counted until after Qatar is out the way and qualifiers start? Or have I got that wrong?

Nah they last two qualifying (including friendlies) campaigns. So my caps pre Euro 2020 still count towards Qatar 2022…. After Qatar, those pre Euro 2020 caps will no longer be valid but the qualifying period after the Euros running up to the WC will be… if that makes any sense?! 😂

Same way anything is sold. First come, first served in that priority group. If there's 5k Phase 1 and only 2k tickets, then you have to trust to luck.

Even via a points system or similar you'd have to have groups. You couldn't say "X has a few more points than Y, so therefore X should have some time to buy before Y does". It'd be madness. Or should the person with the highest points get to buy from 10am, then the second at 10.01am, third 10.02am etc?

I see your point as a ST holder will have given more money to the club overall, but at the same time it would seem a little harsh to give them less points for attending an away game compared to someone attending a home game. Perhaps give them half/75% for buying the ticket and add on a bit extra if they use official travel?

Basically trying to think of a way to set the system up to favour those that provide the club with the most income.

season ticket holders supply the revenue to fund a season so they have to have as many benefits and priorities so you encourage more - you don’t offer away only supporters any benefit as all they do is give other clubs money

The only thing you could do is for phase 1 season ticket holders offer a away member for a couple of thousand and ensure they are first to allow to order away tickets

It’s amazing how convoluted people are willing to get in order to solve an unsolveable problem. When there are 5000 tickets going on sale at once to 11,000 season ticket holders, there is no magic formula that’s going to keep everyone happy, or stop someone from complaining it’s unfair.

(My Southampton tickets arrived yesterday)
