As an aside I keep seeing this thread and singing in my head "What the hell am I doing drinking in the stands" to the tune of Drinking in LA by Bran Van 3000

Ha....Me & my mate used to sing "what the hell am I doing drinking in L8" to this tune on the odd occassion we found ourselves boozing in Toxteth back in the day....

EDIT: Wow. 1997 that tune was released. Thats depressing.

The coke in the toilets doesn't concern me to much but again I understand why it would others. The smoking is mad though, somtimes i go in and feel like I'm choking.

Now that must be shit for kids, at least they're not going to breath in second hand coke.

That's fair enough, though to be fair going up to the football has always exposed kids to things they wouldn't ordinarily see or hear. Granted I don't want my lad seeing people sniffing in the ground but drinking? Not sure if that's an issue.

Yeah drinking is 'normal' but drugs - no. However if the rules are no drinking in the bowl, there should be no drinking in the bowl.

The club need to think about the supporters of tomorrow. If the recent rise in coke heads at football continues, it'll drive families - and those supporters of tomorrow - away, and that's not good for the long-term fan base of the club.

I know we've been through this all before with the violence and racism of the 70s/80. Seems like we're heading to two steps forward, one step back.

Illegal drugs been used/taken in areas where kids might see, doesn't bother you?

Given I have previously said I do see the issue in areas kids can see then no someone doing illegal drugs, as you clarified for me, in toilet cubicles doesn't bother me. (unless of course they have kids in there with them, which I'm sure isn't happening)

It's everywhere and most clubs now have an issue with it unfortunately.

You’d probably faint if you went into “le curve” at most Italian grounds.

I'm in 20 so its more civilised than the naughty corner, more chance of being offered a boiled sweet than a line!

The drinking isn't really the issue, and where I am its only occasional. Its more that its not supposed to be happening yet people can openly walk back to their seats with pints in hand and sit there drinking without a word being said. If you don't stop that there's a decent chance people will think they can get away with other things and we end up in the situation we're in now where people are talking about not going to games anymore.

The people constantly getting up and down is more of an annoyance, doesn't matter if its for beer or anything else. I don't really get why people can't go a couple of hours without needing to go down to the concourse multiple times for crap, overpriced food and drinks. There's people in front of me that are up and down constantly for the whole game, its weird.

Agree there, also in 20. Need to do what the old folk next to me do and bring in some Wagon Wheels

It’s not the only part of our club that is still functioning like we’re in L2

Like many on here, I'm personally not offended by someone drinking a beer in a plastic seat in a stadium - it happens enough in other sports. But I do think that, since it's banned in law, the authorities (club, coppers etc) should be making more of an effort to stop widespread flouting of the ban. You're either enforcing the law or you're turning a blind eye.

As for drugs - I don't agree with anyone who says "it's individuals' business what they do in the privacy of a cubicle, illegal or not" - shouldn't be doing illegal drugs anywhere, never mind in a public place like a football ground.
