It's frustrating as if he had hit the ground running, we would've likely been able to recoup a decent proportion of the fee that we initially paid.

However, at this rate mutual termination beckons in the summer unless a L1 club is willing to pay a menial fee for him.
Do you think it's definitely over for him here?

I don't think there's really evidence to suggest otherwise. Perhaps if he'd replicated form shown at Lincoln then he would've stood half a chance but based on his recent performances I think it's safe to say the ship has most definitely sailed for him.

Far too costly to act as a fourth option and he just doesn't suit our style of play.

We won't mutually cancel him. The guy scored 16ish league 1 goals in 6 months two years ago and was near enough top scorer in league 2. Yes his form recently is patchy but he's a saleable asset, even if it's a couple of hundred grand to someone like a Salford or someone like that. Wrexham bought Ollie Palmer for about 150k in the conference!

The issue is LD is going to be his wages. Obviously he's going to have to take a reduction if he wants to play regular football but I don't think it's going to be as simple as you're making out given he's one of our highest earners... Hopefully we don't have to pay compensation for him to leave but at this rate I really wouldn't be putting any guarantees against it.

Without being pedantic also, NL purchases are anomalies as they don't have to comply to any form of FFP and are therefore more willing to significantly overpay for EFL players in L1/L2. See the example of Paul Mullin who is reportedly on £10k per week at Wrexham.

Cba to start a new thread but apparently we've offered JCS a 3 year deal

Jack Burroughs got 25mins tonight for Ross County's 1-0 victory against Motherwell. Drysdale was an unused sub.

Hearing about Walker not performing at Portsmouth, Cashman not getting in the Rochdale team and now the two lads at Ross County getting bit parts, has our loan policy backfired for players we thought highly of (Walker had a good reputation before we bought him) ?

Throw in bapaga and billson it does seem to have been a poor season for our loan lads so far

Burroughs looks the most successful of the lot. Was generally appearing in all games before his injury and since. The rest it's fair to say have been faliures

I saw Drysdale play and he gave away a penalty and then was at fault for another goal. Ross County were 1-0 at the time and then went on to lose 2-1. He lost his place after that.
Yeah he started first 3 to fairly good reviews but losing that header to a small midfielder has cost him his place. Ross County have gone on a run too so he's just not had a chance to get back in. I thought the pen was bloody harsh as well, about a yard out volleyed at him and his hand was behind his back but he turned it back so it hit it. I know their manager was fuming at the time.

Burroughs came on for about 27 mins on Tuesday and looked like he was left of a front 3 at first then went to rwb.

Burroughs needs to stick to one position. It's great being a utility player but you never master a position and become first choice.

Drysdale got the last 10 mins (84th min sub and 4mins of stoppage time) as Ross County won 1-0 against St Mirren. Ross now up into 6th place in the Scottish Premiership. Jack Burroughs was an unused sub.

Same too for Danny Cashman, keeping the bench warm as Rochdale fell to a 3-0 away defeat at Sutton United.

Cashman back in picture at Rochdale last couple games. Got on for 10 mins today.
Walker back on bench only got 5 mins.

And the head coach has pledged to ‘find the spark’ to ignite the loanee’s underwhelming Pompey career.

Cowley told The News: ‘I’ve got the best out of Tyler once – and will try to keep working with him to find the spark that he needs to play to his best.

‘He scored against Crewe in the previous game he started and then picked up that ankle injury, which probably just stopped his momentum a little. Unfortunately, that’s the way it has gone for him.

‘We haven’t seen the best of him, that’s obvious to say.

‘I’m not going to criticise my players and I never will, not to you guys, and I don’t mean that disrespectfully.

‘Being a professional footballer is a tough job, especially at a big club like Pompey where there’s a lot of noise, so I’m not going to create more.

‘Tyler has to keep working. His attitude, work ethic and willingness for the team is, without doubt, there, but it has not happened for him at this point.’

Cowley had hoped Walker would provide the cutting edge so glaringly absent from his side in the first half of the season.

I still don´t think his goal stats are anywhere near as good as some try and make them sound.

His career average in all games is a goal every 195 minutes. That’s excellent. Pulling out appearances for a player who has been playing two minute spells is disingenuous.

Be as grumpy as you like about him, but his record up to this season has been excellent, hence why we and several other clubs chased him.
