It does make a difference thoigh albeit minimalBut the data doesn’t suggest face masks have that much affect on their own. I’ve just checked the data online. Scotland are still wearing face masks indoors yet their recent 7 day rate is higher than England’s ? View attachment 24358

Yep when the prevalence is so high as now. Me and my mum have had it for the first time the last couple of weeksIt might do, especially in certain specific settings, even though in general the data between England and Scotland suggests otherwise. However, as TGP comments highlight, and I’ve also seen this first hand, the NHS/health services need to be looking at the bigger picture including their own Covid rules if they want to ease the pressure
edit - just to be clear though, if was seeing someone high risk, I would still wear a mask or if someone asked me to. However, in terms of the general population, it looks like if you mix with people eventually you’ll get it from somewhere whatever the mask rules are

Problem is Steve there isn’t data for what the cases would have been without compulsory mask wearing. It’s very simple to look at that data and say it doesn’t work. Fact is in all likelihood the figures would have been worse not the same without compulsory mask wearing. This is what we’re seeing now, the masks have gone, everyone who is getting the jab has had it wether that’s 1,2,2 and a booster and even 2 and 2 boosters for some. Immunity between the jabs and infection is probably at the highest it’s ever been, numbers were dropping then bang, end compulsory mask wearing in public indoor settings and the numbers start rising again even though community testing is way down meaning in all likelihood that the numbers are much higher than they actually are.As i don’t know what the differences in the current testing requirements/regimes I thought I’d check rates for whole of the pandemic, bearing in mind Scotland, as well as being far less densely populated has also worn masks for a lot longer…

I’m sure there arebut it’s stated as the reason the nhs can’t cope? It’s better then in Wales say? No concerns at waiting lists in Swansea?
I’m sure there are

There’s plenty of data to show that masks have a positive impact. Not just over the last couple of years either. Medical professionals haven’t been wearing masks for decades and decades by accident.

Floored me for 3 days still struggling to breathe deeply. Just not trueEveryone i know since Omicron became a thing that has caught it has literally had a cold. Positive for 5 days max
The worlds living with this now, absolutely no need for a step back, the NHS is under pressure due to the pure backlog and the fact GP's still cant be arsed to do their job so you get people turning up at A+E with ailments that should be being dealt with at GP stage
UHCW has barely anyone in with Covid, and those that are are in for other issues and have tested positive
Floored me for 3 days still struggling to breathe deeply. Just not true
I think where those measures have little or no consequences it’s a no brainerWell it is true, because i said people I know of, not yourself. Every single one was a bit tired but felt otherwise fine.
Of course its not great you were ill, and glad you're better, but 3 days feeling like shit for those who get it bad is hardly reason enough to go back to any measures
For this government they'd consider it a good thing.NHS has called for a return of face masks from the government. Have basically said that the government has abandoned the NHS if it doesn’t.
They’ll be right whilst taking advantage of the freedom we now have due to the prevalence of vaccine take upAnti vaxxers up by memorial park with a Canadian flag, twats.

China is in full on mental mode now.....they've started phyiscally fencing in 25 million people in shanghai overnight......
Zero covid policy was always pure folly.
Add the facts of a huge population, shit vaccines, a shit healthcare system & no natural immunity built up in community, food shortages & an economy thats grinding to a halt....
How do they think they're ever going to get out of the mess they've got themselves in?
Maybe globalisation isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Apparently in the German-speaking area it doesn’t exist either due to natural medicine and mountain air.Interesting in Italy they wanted FFP2 masks and a ‘Green Pass’ everywhere-but in San Marino we were told ‘COVID doesn’t exist here’ and no masks were required. Guess viruses don’t like the mountain air.

That still goes on between carriages on the trains as well.It was essential to wear the mask at the train station. Unless you wanted a quick fag…
I actually saw an old woman smoking without a mask in he’s away from her friend, get in her car alone and put a mask on…It was essential to wear the mask at the train station. Unless you wanted a quick fag…
Indeed.....thats why I voted against it in 2016
You didn't. You voted for one form of neo liberalism over another.
Wrong thread....but no I didn't.
But I do now apologise for my cheeky little bit of fishing.....honestly.....the last thing we need is a Covid-Brexit mash-up thread.
It's what you're getting though.
Conversely, I voted for another type even though it's not what I really want but hey ho......

I reckon about 50% of restaurants have only ever asked me for the green pass.
