Wasn’t the whole point of Brexit we could be more nimble in response to events?
Vaccine procurement and no we couldn’t have just cracked on and done our own thing…legally yes but no member did their own thing until after the procurement fuck up.
In response to the other comments removal of 5% VAT on energy would’ve been less than the rebate through the councils tax for a majority of the country. I personally would’ve knocked the VAT off and claimed ‘Brexit win’ and I’ve said before, almost fair play that they didn’t…even if their choice is more convoluted and delayed ! I also don’t think it’s enough though and would be shocked if more help isn’t on its way…especially after the fines !!!
Inflation is a global problem caused almost totally by global issues. Bank of England probably should’ve stopped printing money and started raising rates a bit sooner but inflation would still be high because everyone else has been merrily printing money and there was also massive post Covid pent up demand. Add to that the war and it’s a perfect inflationary shitstorm.
Errr. Hungry chose to purchase and administer the Russian Sputnik vaccine before the EU approved it so…Vaccine procurement and before anyone says anyway (Tony behave !) no we couldn’t have just cracked on and done our own thing…legally yes but no member did their own thing until after the procurement fuck up.

He's barely ever voted Tory tbfSo why do you keep on voting for the party that constantly keeps on doing it?
So why do you keep on voting for the party that constantly keeps on doing it? Also, didn't you criticise Corbyn for suggesting nationalisation of railways?
And yes I know New Labour added a private element into some public services, which was a massive mistake and we'll be paying for it forever, but given the utter disaster it tends to be how come the supposedly 'economically competent' Tories haven't twigged yet? Personally, I suspect they have but they and their mates are doing quite nicely from the decision so fuck everyone else.
Errr. Hungry chose to purchase and administer the Russian Sputnik vaccine before the EU approved it so…
Is global crisis a valid excuse nowadays?
Asking for Gordon Brown!
As I say the whole privatisation thing was a folly built into an 80’s yuppie share ownership culture. It’s always been a waste of time.
You transfer providers It makes no difference
Railways have always been an annoyance to me. Useless when nationalised and now worse.
Gordon Brown did a great job during the financial crisis. It’s been said before though it was the lack of build up in reserves in decent growth times which was peoples issue. I’ve said before they would’ve only helped a bit anyway due to the size of the financial crisis.
For me capitalism is great for innovation and choice through competition. The only thing utility companies can differentiate on is customer service and frankly they’re all shit and it’s such a secondary concern anyway.
Rail is a little more complex but generally same deal I want to get from a to b at the time I want, how plush the seats are or what food is offered on board is very much a nice to have but not a decision maker.

my irk with railways is it’s a public service abs should provide links from the villages and small towns into cities even if it’s loss making
It’s a service and most European countries from my experience do it a lot better.
He sold the UK gold reserve and made a loss at 2018 gold prices of £18 billion.
“I’ve said, we were ‘allowed to’, but we couldn’t have done what we did if we were still in the EU”I’ve said, we were ‘allowed to’, but we couldn’t have done what we did if we were still in the EU. I think Germany, Italy and France were told not to go it alone and walked away from an agreed contract as the EU wanted EU wide procurement. Understandably in a way because you can’t have one member steaming ahead and vaccinating large numbers and others struggling. There would’ve been massive political pressure not to
ps I don’t know the dates but I presume hungary did their own thing due to the delays of the EU procurement, not before
So not something we needed Brexit to actually do then? Literally in the same sentence you say we couldn't have done then immediately admit we actually could.Vaccine procurement and before anyone says anyway (Tony behave !) no we couldn’t have just cracked on and done our own thing…legally yes but no member did their own thing until after the procurement fuck up.
“I’ve said, we were ‘allowed to’, but we couldn’t have done what we did if we were still in the EU”
That’s a contradiction in terms.
The UK MHRA who approved the vaccination also confirmed that leaving the EU changed nothing, in fact the regulation that they used is known as regulation 174 which has been around since 2012, a whole 4 years before we even had a referendum. It’s complete bollocks to suggest that brexit miraculously moved the goalposts. We’re in brexit unicorn with rainbows flying out of its arse territory.
Money well spent. So long as your aim wasn’t to build a world beating track and trace system.Half a Track and Trace.
I’ve explained this before. We could do what we wanted in terms of vaccines under the rules but ‘politically’ we couldn’t have, the EU would never have allowed it. Hence the example of Germany, France and Italy (might be Holland rather than one of those actually)
What the literal fuck are you talking about. How could the EU have stopped us? It’s bollocks. The regulation was already in place, I’ve quoted you the regulation, it pre dates brexit and the referendum, the EU couldn’t have stopped us doing jack. Sorry Steve but you’re talking hypothetical bollocks, you’re in if my gran had bollocks she would be my grandad territory.I’ve explained this before. I think what your saying is we would have chosen to stay with ye herd. I think you're right but that's not the same as we couldn't of because we could of!
Same as the bullshit about the VAT reduction on energy,we could of when we were in the EU, it wasn't a potential 'Brexit win', just more bollocks.
You’ve reached Nadine Dorries levels of delusion. You’ll be telling us next that C4 takes public money.Politically we couldn’t/wouldn’t of. I don’t know why people are struggling to understand. Other countries were stopped from signing contracts. That’s a fact. I don’t know what political pressures were applied but it happened. There is no way we would’ve been able to deliver the vaccine procurement/programme if we were still in the EU.
You’ve reached Nadine Dorries levels of delusion. You’ll be telling us next that C4 takes public money.
Steve. You’re trying to pass opinion of as fact. The fact is that the UK MHRA used a regulation that predates brexit, predates the referendum and actually predates the promise of the referendum. There is literally nothing, nothing that the EU could have done to stop us approving the vaccine ahead of the EMA. Nothing. It’s complete bollocks. The Nadine Dorries reference is valid because even after I’ve quoted you chapter and verse you’ve continued with the fantasy, fully in the style of Nadine Dorries. Best thing you can do is read up on who the MHRA are and their role in the vaccine program, read up on regulation 174, there’s even a video of the head of the MHRA at a commons select committee explaining why Matt Hancock was talking bollocks when he first made the claim. Your first clue is that it was Matt Hancock who initially made the claim. No need for that. I’ve tried to explain the best I can but you’re struggling to understand or just don’t want to accept that the EU isn’t perfect
This is a lengthy article about exactly what happen and is worth a read. Once you’ve read it feel free to continue to say I’m taking bollocks, deluded etc but I stand by my comments
How Europe fell behind on vaccines
The EU secured some of the lowest prices in the world. At what cost?www.politico.eu
I’ve seen a guy on YouTube do it but he ends up foraging in parks to supplement it.Those posts from stupid Tory cunts giving an average price per meal are cringey as fuck.
Tell everybody to rock up to the supermarket and see if they can pay in installments based on when each ingredient in consumed
This government is just beyond disgusting.
His videos are pretty good tbf and he seems like a decent blokeI’ve seen a guy on YouTube do it but he ends up foraging in parks to supplement it.
Each was a birthday
That never happened
He only saw people he worked with
None of them have had his baby yet
He only did what everyone was doing
How can anyone be expected to get everything right
We are all sinners
