Also, Southampton sacked their manager early into the league 1 season, then along came Nigel Adkins, and so on... :thinking about:

Last October he lost the dressing room and that was from a player within the club.

End of the day, he was a cheap option. He has a good eye for a player but is not a manager.

Seems a sound enough fella and it didn't work out. Shame they didn't have the bollocks to do it last season tho.

Hmmm. I'm readings posts from people who use 'facts' they like to support their stance, and discount those they don't like if they contradict their view; and you think I'm troubled?

What facts? McPake was a good, hard-working CB, who was mistreated by the club, and still happy to return, but fair play to him for telling the club where to go and getting off the sinking HMS CCFC

He wasn't a particularly good defender when fit, which wasn't often.

Whilst never thought that Thorn was a particularly good manager, and, though belated, the right decision has been made to sack him, wouldn't use any "tweets" from McPake as a weapon to beat him around the head with.

Because he had no respect off the players, they treated him like a mug. He had no authority over them

He was a laughing stock. McShreffrey had to do the team talks sometimes last year, that's how bad it got.

I see. Would certainly explain the team's performance, if true.

FFS, you lot make me laugh. And what will the next option be?

Think the summer was the time to do do tis new man will have to work with what he has been dealt with and a promotion push is unlikely this year! PUSB

Best make a note of that in case Macca is ever touted as Manager when he retires.

This is another long-running myth.

Thorn was installed as a caretaker manager - a natural course of events after a sacking. Fans enjoyed his initial results and football, liked Thorn the man, called him The Godfather, wanted him to be the permanent manager. SISU obliged.

There is nothing to suggest he was only given the job full-time because he was cheap. Managers do not require a transfer fee and are on lower wages than any player; it wouldn't require much financial shuffling to bring in an outside man.
