We should find a way to keep them
Tell us how?
Can’t generate more income

The only possible answer is new owners willing to give some of their own money without wanting it back

Sometimes you need a bit of realism

Don’t get me wrong I’d love it to be possible

Whatever way it is you would moan anyway.

If we kept them? Hardly.

I did ask yesterday as you moan I take this off topic what value would you think o hare is worth?

Lol I wonder if they’ve thought of that but yes of course. I think better days was suggesting even with moving out the non first teamers

I can’t believe they are on over £20 grand a week each

Giving them a pay rise to try and keep them?

He would be going to a top end Championship team rather than the Premier League, looking at the type of money they spend probably about £7-8m I'd let him go for.

Hamer and Ohare?? Maybe

Then surely this is the problem. Oddly championship players want championship wages - I’d be surprised if it was much higher than £1 million a year wages each player - but this is what I have said in a nutshell. The club can’t pay players who become championship quality material

Ok work with me here. The club seem to be doing all they can. Is that good?
If there are no new owners waiting to buy what do you think boddy or fisher can do?

??? Are you saying that if we don't get promoted we are going to have to sell both of them?? If this is true and the 'we have to sell' message is out there, then unless there is a bidding war, clubs will try and shaft us knowing we have to sell. I understand that you are 'in the know @better days , but is this a 'fact' , or something you suspect? Not knocking you, but to lose both would be gutting for fans (albeit, heroes always come and go, Doyle, McNulty, Dion, Mortimer, Hutch etc). Will need a really positive summer transfer market to appease the fanbase. MR has buckets of goodwill, but the owners will come into sharp focus if the above transpires, and the summer dealings are meh. Let's hope and pray we win the next 4 games (and win the play offs!)
Tbh what option did we have?
Both are in demand and if we didn't get them to sign new contracts we could lose them for nothing if they ran them down
I believe they are on the best contracts at the club but they deserve it, along with Vik but I don't know his deal
It's sensible business and should mean we don't get our pants taken down if and when wealthier clubs come in
The biggest concern is if one or both got a long term injury or downed tools like Ozil or some of the guys at Manure
But I think both are ambitious and want to play at the highest possible level so downing tools is unlikely

I see the justifying selling Ohare and Hamer has already begun

Regardless wether this is true or not , I think there's going to be interest this summer surely ?

What price would you take if we had to sell ?
Defo he’s started scoring at the worst time for us in regards to keeping him but will defo bring interest in and higher fee

Well we did receive less than a million in the first year

Was that the full amount of the base fee though ? A lot of clubs pay initial fee in instalments even if there’s no additional sell on and appearance clauses

The Ohare stuff, in particular the £5m fee, is just unsubstantiated paper talk.

Both are in demand eh...imagine that.

Its like we don't have to 'hawk them about' like some would have you think.

No one wants them to go to be fair. Depending on who we brought in to replace them, it would be a massive step backwards.

As they are ambitious - like any player - a chance to move to a higher placed club and triple your wages etc, if the price was right for us, you're not going to keep a player unfortunately.

But to be clear, I want us starting next season with a spine of Moore, Hyam, Hamer, Sheaf, O'Hare and Gyo. If we go into next season with those 6, I'd be confident of a top 6 spot if we don't sneak one this season.

Tosh!
Of course we can afford their contracts FFS.
The truth which is spouted by the club and the management at every given opportunity is that we develop players and sell them on for a profit to keep the club self sustainable - that is our business model.
None of this should come as a surprise to anyone surely?
We can only buck this trend if we get promoted to the Premier League and even then you have the bigger fish feeding from the pond below them - players come and go and thats just the way it is - who had even heard of any of these 3 players before we signed them??
Hats off to the management for unearthing and developing this fantastic talent for us all to enjoy while they are with us!
Im looking forward to the next gems they bring to the club - onwards and upwards!

And the even bigger fish feeding off the big fish. Its the way football is these days. No surprises...Good players get signed by good teams.

A bit less than that but still significant
As @Skybluebeliever has said it's likely one of our big players will be sold if we get an offer we can't refuse - possibly Hamer
Hopefully not more than one though
We as fans have to accept that we can't hold onto ambitious players who get huge offers to play at a higher level
West Ham for example are having a great season but they'll lose Declan Rice if they don't get Champions League football next term
And even Liverpool lost Coutinho, but it turned out to be good business in the end
If Robins gets some of the money to reinvest it might be the same for us
Fingers crossed

Out of Vik, CoH and Hamer, it’s the latter that I’d prefer to lose - the other 2 are integral and would be harder for us to replace.

Im sure if all 3 are sold some people will find a reason to say “it’s football”

Agreed. Id almost go as far to say the other two are generational players for us...particularly Gyo. Hes the one I would definitely NOT want to lose from the others.

None of them are easy to replace - I wouldnt stress about it as theyre all Coventry players and currently loving life pulling up trees for fun here with us.
We will have players bubbling under the surface either in the club now or in the pipeline already poised to join in the summer - players exactly like these that we haven't even heard of yet.
The one thing I would say is that I for one trust the recruitment department we have now more than any other I can think of in my time supporting this wonderful football club - hail Caeser and god bless the queen and all who sail in her!
