Looks like Russia might start struggling in the East soon too.

Same old story - overstretched supply lines that they can't defend. Its amazing how badly they've bungled this invasion.

What a mess, what are they doing ?!! Not sure if this will come true but bold prediction…

‘Which takes me back to my original prediction: the russian armed forces will be defeated in Ukraine and Putin will be removed from power’

The link to the Canadian Ukrainian is very interesting

The defence of Mariupol is amazing.

The city is utterly ruined, but it's taking a herculean effort for them to defend it and keep Russian forces occupied there rather than advancing elsewhere.
They’ve got something that the Russian soldiers will never have. Something worth fighting for. Heroes, every last Ukrainian soldier and resident.

You’re right there. Something worth fighting for is hugely important especially when the other side might not believe in what they’re doing

Quite. Very reasonable well read and intelligent people were saying it was an option to me too. On balance I didn’t agree

Hard to say when it’s not your (or your family’s) life/freedom on the line, but seeing what the Russians have done to those places they’ve occupied, I’m not even sure many lives would be saved, and those that were May end up cheap labour or moved to miles away.

This is why sanctions work and the wealthy also has more clout than the man on the street.

Sanctioned Russian tycoon condemns 'insane' war
A Russian tycoon has blasted Moscow's "massacre" in Ukraine and called on the West to end the "insane war", in a profanity-laced Instagram post.
"I don't see a SINGLE beneficiary of this insane war! Innocent people and soldiers are dying," wrote Oleg Tinkov, 54, in Russian.
According to him, "90%" of his fellow Russians are also against this war. The remaining 10% "are morons" he said.
Tinkov, one of Russia's most well-known entrepreneurs, founded Tinkoff Bank in 2006.
On Instagram he added: "Waking up with a hangover, the generals realised that they have a shit army.
"And how will the army be good, if everything else in the country is shit and mired in nepotism, sycophancy and servility?"
Before Russia invaded Ukraine in late February, Tinkov's wealth had been estimated at more than $4.4bn (£3.4bn).
But he has since lost his billionaire status as shares in his bank have plummeted, Forbes reported last month.
In a statement, Tinkoff Bank said it would not comment on the "private opinion" of its founder, saying he no longer makes decisions for the brand.

The French put up more resistance defending Vichy Madagascar against the British than they did their own homeland against Hitler. Not a great reference point.
To be fair the French did lose almost a generation of young men in WWI so apart from not really wanting to go down that route again they had a severely depleted number of potential soldiers to start with.

WTF? wow

sorry but wow
Shock, horror...A country surrenders to save its citizens...That was the starK reality for other leaders before France. Without thinking of the broader picture. It is also suggested that Hitler spared Paris because he loved the architecture. Which sort of shows what kind of a mish-mash war is.

Indeed. Which brings us to Ukraine and the resolve of their nation. France seems to talk a lot. Whenever they get involved in conflict things fall to pieces. They didn't do a very good job in Veitnam either. But I guess Colonialism was falling apart for many 'Great' nations.

Think they sent some soldiers to Mali at the request of their government. After a while Malians wanted them gone because they’d done jack all to help tackle the issues they were brought in for.

At least it appears that Ukraine will just about save Macron

Mali wanted a more aggressive approach from French army and troops with a ruthless streak. So shifted the French and replaced them with the Wagner group.

Russia has claimed it has 'liberated' Mariupol

Azov are still holed up in the steel plant though and Putin has ordered the factory not to be stormed, probably because he knows they can't take it.

Instead they are going to put it under siege and make sure nothing can come in or out.

I wonder if this gives them a bit of an off-ramp. Eliminate the Azov regiment and claim they've de-nazified Ukraine and it's mission accomplished.

It’s sad. The French, Dutch, Polish and others are guilty of that. And.….the Uk would fall well short of todays standards regarding anti semetism / racial bigotry and their colonialism. Hopefully, we are becoming a better society but people still want to harm others because they are different. Pick a protected characteristic and see how tolerant society is today?

I can’t be the only person thinking profiteering like this is in bad taste.
It is. But none of us need to buy it. bot forgetting the dress like zelensky fashion items? as far as statements go, the t shirt makes it’s point. I looked at the cost and thought the same as you. Someone is profiteering.

I guess their destruction of Holocaust memorials and waging war against a Jewish leader has sort of derailed the denazification effort.
