USA sending some serious kit over.

Russia aren't going to win this war.

Wonder what the value is of that fancy kit? Some expert on radio said $800M will last about 7 days. Presume this must include supplies/ammo/disposable items.

Not sure what the value of each unit is, but those drones are one time use only. They aren't reconnaissance drones or howitzers that you can use over and over again, they're one-off weapons. Lot of $$$ there for one use items!

edit: Just saw something which says this latest $800m included 40,000 artillery rounds

Yes it’s almost like the American military industrial complex is the only real winner

You do have to wonder whether some of these drones are actually being flown from Las Vegas etc. rather than someone in Eastern Ukraine……

The US are saying that they are sending over equipment that requires little training, and they aren't sending tanks for example because they would require too much training compared to what Ukraine is used to. So that would suggest that it is Ukraine operating it all.

But I am pretty certain that the US and other countries are a LOT more involved than we are being told. Particularly in terms of intelligence but also on the ground.

Some of those Bayraktar drones were probably being operated by Turkey as the footage was being released by Turkish media.

Rumblings from one of the Russian generals that Moldova will be next if they can take enough of Ukraine to link up with Transnistria.

Not just that. Cut off Ukraine from its ports and they strangle the economy. Massively reliant on their ports for agricultural exports in particular.

Even a 1x use is amazing when it can take out a vehicle full of soldiers, or 5 of them can while out a whole tactical hq.

Germany has just announced that they’re supplying 50 tanks to Ukraine. That’s going to piss Russia off.
I wonder how these tanks will get into Ukraine . Are roads and rail network in and out of Poland to Ukraine generally under Ukraine control ?

Russian forces primarily in East and Southeast - long way from polish border. Attacks near Polish border are either by long range missiles or aircraft.
Potential for strikes from Belarus territory also. Russians don't have capacity atm to send ground forces to deal with Polish border area.

fuck you putin

But all this shows is that once again the excuse about not being able to work our way off it for years and years is bullshit. We can do it if we want to. We just can't be arsed and the nice people who own all the oil want to be able to afford another yacht.

I know someone who’s done a few trips delivering with an organised charity. First trip they did through Hungary who by all accounts were complete cunts and held them up at the border with Ukraine for best part of 24hours, second trip they did through Poland and apparently drove the trucks onto a train in Poland which took them into Ukraine where they then drove of the train to a nearby warehouse before returning by the same train. Last trip he did was with vehicles (Toyota pick ups and ambulances) which they handed over in Poland at the border. Basically he’s said there’s no issues at the border so long as it isn’t the one with Hungary.

Moving anything between Hungary and Ukraine by rail is slow as different gauge railways. We had long delays moving agricultural crops and inputs between the 2 countries by rail.
That said still a lot of pro-Russian anti-ukrainian feeling amongst some Hungarian political groups. More noticeable now Hungarian election finished.

FFS they aren't going to attack Poland, Poland is in NATO, this means NATO would have to defend them and we have already done this to death.

This was by road. They held them at the border. It was a proper experienced charity too and all paperwork was in order. They basically held them up for the sake it.

I see Johnson has been heavily criticised in Poland for ‘loose lips’.

He just can't bloody help himself can he?

I'd cheerfully acknowledge the government appear to be doing good work in supporting Ukraine with weapons, but surely the sensible thing to do is to not overblow it for the purpose of domestic politics. Less talk, more weapons, would seem to me to be the smart strategic approach.

I can see we're still hugely behind the pace on helping refugees from the conflict though, which remains inexcusable, imho.

I thought the same when I first saw the guardian article but the comment wasn’t from the polish government and then I saw that the Polish and Uk governments had previously announced their pact including military training

I agree it’s strange that everyone’s announcing what they’re doing and how they’re supporting, however, I can only assume it’s an intentional show of extensive co-ordinated international support. US have even come out to say they intend to weaken Russia to the extent they can’t do this again in short order.

Since the civilian rapes and killing came to light it appears that all bets are off. Worrying but probably the right move by the West…still don’t know how this ends though
