I haven't misinterpreted anything you're just an idiot who's embarrassed by the fact I've made you look as such and so has thrown his toys out the pram.

Quote me saying the entire market is closed off including the European first divisions?

Utter moron.

Well you are now putting words into my mouth and hurling more insults, which just about proves my point.

Have a lovely evening sir.

Brexit means that that English clubs can no longer sign any player they wish from Europe due to the new points based system. Also no overseas U18s are allowed to be signed either by PL or EFL clubs.

Using Norwich as an example this means that players such as Buendia and Pukki would not have been able to be signed if at the time the new system was in place.

The points based system assesses a player's eligibility on a range of factors such as international experience and the league and the team he has been signed from etc.

As such clubs are going to have to significantly change their recruitment strategies and with bringing in players from Europe now becoming that much harder due to a huge proportion of said players not qualifying under the new points based system, they have to be a lot smarter with their recruitment.

With a significant market such as this being heavily closed off, experts within the industry believe that we're going to see more players coming from South America. But like I said, I don't think that's applicable for the majority of the Championship as most won't have the scouting network in place to tap into those markets for the obvious reasons - cost.

So the first port of call is going to be looking closer to home for the aforementioned reasons.

Believe what you want but I really don't think I'm the idiot in this scenario.
You're absolutely right.

Brexit did affect the transfer market. Doesn’t he points system revolve on factors such as international caps, league standing, purchase price, and position in the league of the selling club.

it’s not technically closed off, we could say pay 16m for a Dutch international from Ajax, but realistically it’s not feasible for 90% of clubs in England.

im sure Boddy said we couldn’t purchase Hamer in the current climate

A technically more difficult example as I am sure Hamer has a Brazilian passport. Maybe ask @KenilworthSkyBlue to get his map of Europe out.

It is amazing the lengths some people will go to avoid admitting they made a mistake.

You went from rehashing a poorly researched article from The Athletic (which you also then misinterpreted) to just making things up. On domestic football alone for a player with an EU passport, yes, there are some more restrictions now, but they still do not mean the whole market (including lower league) are closed off like you have said. When you include international appearances (FIFA seeding is weighted, not absolute, check that too), or the origin of a players passport (one of which apply to both said players Pukki and Bunedia), then they are not confined to the same restraints as someone from Kickers Offenbach would be. Appearances also count for a lot, as it is a staggered system, with domestic and international pointing combined (yes I know you are just panicking and quick searching this too).

You made an angry outburst about brexit and now you are just making yourself look even sillier by trying to get acute, which would be a half-sensible save if your facts were remotely correct. Yes, we are probably looking at a player from a higher European league, but why wouldn't we be? We are an established Championship club now. Transfer policy will not massively be changing because we can't suddenly sign someone from the Polish fourth division.

Neither Pukki or Buendia would have qualified under the new system, that is a fact.

I found the Athletic article that @KenilworthSkyBlue referenced.

On Norwich it says:

" Norwich are one of the clubs with the most to change in terms of their scouting and recruitment strategy following Brexit. Of 17 signings made since the arrival of sporting director Stuart Webber, 11 would not have been handed a governing body endorsement (GBE) — including Teemu Pukki and Emi Buendia. Even Daniel Farke would not have been able to join the club as head coach. "

Looks like Earlsdon was wrong then. Wonder if he will admit to it.

The article isn't very accurate, which is partly why our friend from Kenilworth has ended up going down such a blind alley in the first place.

Not all, but most of top European leagues would be applicable and fall in line with the banding set out. I was more referring to the lower divisions.

Like I said if it's rumoured that we're bringing in a European player he will certainly come from leagues such as the Bundesliga or Eredivisie as if he's made enough appearances in such divisions then I think it's pretty much an automatic pass.

That was the belief when the rules were first touted, when they actually came in he would have just about qualified but it was close.
The likes of Dacosta, Jobello, Hilßner wouldn't - maybe that would have been a blessing?
I think that’s the idea, stops teams taking punts on foreign players in order to force them to use young English players, whilst simultaneously still bringing in talented imports.

ultimately it still cuts off an avenue, For example the next Mahrez is not likely - he is another player I’m sure they said wouldn’t have been found.

Perhaps if they stopped letting the big teams hoard the good young English players then maybe we'd get more young English players playing through the leagues.

Think they’re trying that aswell, you’re only allowed 8 players out on loan now. The idea is if can’t be loaned out it would make players think twice about joining these clubs

Not shouting for it, but Josh Murphy (Cardiff paid £11m for him from Norwich) been bombed out of his loan club PNE for attitude, tardiness!

Cardiff not renewing deal at end of season

If he's been bombed out of loan club for lack of discipline leave well alone.

It wasn't bollocks

We spoke to Twine, Bright and Paterson

Was looking like Paterson was a done deal until he wanted more cash when Swansea popped up, and MR plumped for Bright over Twine

There's a reason he ended up at MK Dons in league 1 when hes clearly a lot more talented, MR went for Bright

Surely we went for Bright because he was all we could afford? I doubt he was asking for more wages than Twine, we signed him from East Bengal ffs.

Not disagreeing (and can't think his brother would encourage him after his experience here either !). Quite a fall from grace, though.
I think he looked ok in the prem when Cardiff were there, and fans expected him to ‘kick on’ in the championship. Apart from a few games when McCarthy took over, hasn’t done anything or looked good at all.
The Cardiff fans, in my vicinity at least, can’t wait for him to be gone.
Quite the fall indeed.

I'm not sure how solid our interest was but I heard that Twine turned down more than one Championship club to sign for MK Dons.

We were definitely in for Twine as were many at this level but none guaranteed him football which is the reason he went to MK.
