One thing I am fairly certain of re; Cal O'Hare is that the training ground atmosphere must be so much better with him around. People constantly refer to the mood amongst the squad at clubs, and it is almost palpable what his enthusiasm does to those around him - Hamer, Dabo etc always seem to have a smile on their face when he's in their company. That alone is worth a lot to the team/club.

Telegraph reporting Brighton looking at Hamer, I think that’s a rumour for each of the big three now. What odds we end up selling them all?

I'd say as likely as we are to signing all the players we get tenuously linked with. I would personally be incredibly surprised if all 3 were sold in one summer window.

So what? I don’t think Robins will be saying to,say,Southampton “No you can’t have him because he makes a few of my players laugh”

Let’s face it… whatever fee we get will be undisclosed the bunch of bastards! That shit really grinds my gears like it’s some big secret we must never let our oppositions know how much money we’ve got but everyone else does for their transfers

The club is changing, in the past we haven't really sounded outwardly our stance on transfers or more importantly shown complete faith the in the manager of the time. Previously we have seen a lack of fight to keep our better players, and if a player is sold, a sort of deal with it attitude towards the sitting managers was often taken.

Its took these owners time, but they now trust and respect the knowledge MR & AV bring to the club. They have seen the results, watched the improvement on and off the field and now are understanding the vision MR set out for them on his return. If anyone can keep these 3 at the club, its this management team. I hope the summer ends with at least 3 quality additions brought in, the big 3 kept and our surplus players moved on to pastures new.

If the summer ends with any of the 3 sold, the fans would trust MR to get the biggest fee, and get better players to replace those out the door. Should be a busy summer and hopefully a good one that will allow is to improve again.

Almost all transfers are now undisclosed it really isn't specific to us

My point was that the difference between having a few (allegedly) Todd Kane characters around, as opposed to a few Cal O'Hare's in terms of attitude and morale can be huge in terms of performances and atmosphere around the workplace. Imagine turning up for work and having a miserable sulky person next to you all day, rather than someone you have a laugh with and like. One might want to make you leave, and the other might sway you to stay. That was the point I was trying to illustrate.

It will be undisclosed so that clubs dont know how much we got so they dont try and squeeze more than required out of us

If you read my message I wrote I wrote exactly that. I know the reason but we never spend any money anyways so why keep it all a big secret. Plenty of other clubs are open with their fans how much they sold players for however for as long as I remember Cov always have it as ‘undisclosed’

Have you spent the last 10 years under a rock? Hardly any team will reveal purchase price or sale price. What is there to achieve by doing so?

They don't. We were admittedly one of the pioneers, but others have followed.

Anyway, as I said before, clubs often *do* release transfer fees, but usually inflated / manipulated from the actuality to make them look ambitious and encourage people to sign up for season tickets etc.

It would be handy if clubs were compelled to release the detail, transparency and all that, mind you.

Watching John McAtee for Grimbsby against Wrexham. Looks a useful attacking midfielder. Scored a cracking goal (and nearly another) and despite knowing little else about him and being up against a better team (in Wrexham) I quite like the look of him.

Was just thinking this. Got an eye for goal. Wouldn’t cost a fortune. Maybe one Robins Is looking at.

I came on here to post about McAtee, but others have beat me to it. 22 he is - right age, playing in a division where he’s used to getting lumps kicked out of him rather than some prem U23’s.

Worth a punt. Scored some goals this season.

As an aside, not bothering to watch the Champ League Final; rather watch this - proper football.

Non league to a mid table Championship club is quite the jump. I doubt we’d be looking there unless it was for the U23s

Appeasing the stakeholders which is their fans. The fans want to know they got a fair deal for their player they paid their hard earned money to go and watch which they no longer will be able to

It’s reflected in the accounts if you care that much

Hardly, it can be hidden in a whole range of ways and when the accounts are released it could be over a year later. People have a right to know why they should keep turning up and watching games if the owners are willing to sell players for not worth their value, eventually the fans get over it and think why bother supporting these guys when the owners sell when someone puts in a sub par offer… hence the fans have a right to know.
If we get a fair deal a reasonable fan would think yeah fair play that’s a good deal and have no issues and continue to support and back their club

It does happen, but not very often. As you say, most the time players brought in as development but make step up sooner than expected (eg Sorba Thomas).

Fans don’t have a right at all. Is there any statistical evidence clubs are losing fans because they don’t disclose fees?
