Great shout. Don’t think it’ll take to long to raise the capital. Where would you put it though? City centre?
I think I asked before and then forgot about it. Gonna catch up with Joe and see what happened with jimmys one and what it took to get it done

Do we think this is something we could all get behind and raise money and get agreement from the council to have it somewhere in the city??
No, without going into any details, there was a fall out between a certain individual and the clubs owner over financial matters.
Not mentioning any names for obvious reasons, and I'm sorry to be so cryptic, suffice it to say, that it will never happen.

Is that why Jimmy is at the Ricoh?

What issue was there about which statue when?
The issue goes back to HR.
Let's just say one of them was a regular visitor to the Ricoh as a VIP guest of the club, the other was "persona non gratis"

That's all I'm prepared to say, as there are people in the city that wouldn't want the issue raking up.

Kenneth Paal anyone ,? For the European player, left back at zowlle for last four years, out of contract.
Also been linked with qpr and Bristol.

And linked - would anyone be willing to join me on a fundraising committee if that’s what we do? I do wonder if sisu and ccfc would want to put forward the majority but there’s something to be said by raising money from thousands to take ownership of it.

Pm me

Not that cryptic then since JS was often there and not GC. You've basically named him, not pnly part of 87 but one of the greatest players to wear our shirt. Tbh you shouldn't have said anything but can't really come out with that and then not tell us about it as its a slur on the big man's name. Fk the council.

Couldn’t give a fuck who he’s pissed off TBH, the club is bigger than a few personalities and he’s a massive part of the history of the club.

Statues for George and John, Oggy, and Robins I say!

I'd always assumed George dropped off the radar due to ill health, would be sad if he was frozen out of the club in his final years.

Having said that any ill feeling should surely fall away now the guy is dead. Would anyone at the club / council seriously block fan efforts to celebrate those who played an important role in our history.

The issue of where these things should go is never easy. The obvious answer is the stadium but not owning it presents potential problems although it would be hard for Wasps to turn down without looking absolute dicks. Highfield Road would be another option but is a bit out the way where nobody would ever see it. If not at the ground then the city centre somewhere has to be the best option, or maybe by the old council house as that was where thousands gathered to see the cup team.

That’s where I thought

£150k for Jimmy tho. Would be £200k at least for a double statue I’d assume?

That’s a big ask.

Someone told me and I put it on a previous thread. How do I search?

Found it, you said £350k. I assume £150k was just the commissioning cost.

Jimmys statue cost £350k

If we wanted to do something similar for George and John that’s a lot of money and probably requires a planning and fundraising group

If the club and owners and the owner of wasps were all for it how would be go about raising money to progress this?

Am I correct in assuming that 100%of the fanbase think the Jimmy Hill statue is great and that George and John deserve similar?

Was anyone involved in the Jimmy one?!

Obviously it would start with a supporters wide discussion and reach out to the families but just asking my fellow fans their thoughts before embarking on too many conversations
