Looks like the Tories will lose both by-elections .
Wakefield obviously is expected but Tiverton would be a huge blow to them
No tuition fees?Why they’ll win in back at the next election - no one could name a single Lib Dem policy
Why they’ll win in back at the next election - no one could name a single Lib Dem policy - it’s back to normal in a couple of years
I knew you'd instantly respond to say it's irrelevant. You're nothing if not predictable.
It's not irrelevant, it would be a big deal. It would be a huge swing.

It is pretty irrelevant, the Lib Dems are a good Tory protest vote but it's doubtful the electorate in a seat that's been nothing but Tory will vote Lib Dem again in 2024.
Nick Clegg has a lot to answer for.No tuition fees?

In all seriousness though, there's been a combination of stupidity that's created the conditions for Johnson.And that's just in his time at Facebook

- Iraq has nobbled Blair's legacy, so nobody listens to him on anything else;
- Clegg backtracking on his manifesto and going into power with the Tories gave them a free pass the following election;
- Add to that him not liking Brown so not even entertaining a Lib-Lab coalition at the time;
- Both Blair and Lib Dems being discredited meant voices against Brexit were diminished, lacked credibility, and couldn't carry people along.
So here we are, when a fair few who voted Lib Dem can't again for the foreseeable, even if some of their policies align with their own beliefs, because the betrayal was enormous. That's given the Tories a free ride in some places, and allowed them to focus on other areas as a result, and take seats from Labour where they normally wouldn't.
Add to the fact that nobody within Labour will now listen to Blair on how to win an election, despite the fact he's the only one to manage it, and you have an opposition divided between the legacy MPs who were around at his time, the newer intake, and the party members - meaning they're doomed to be ineffective as long as they don't all come together in some way, whoever the leader is (be it Corbyn, Starmer, or Donald Duck).
the Lib Dems would sleep with Stalin if they had a seat at the top table. They are a slimy bunch of opportunists with not one ounce of principal
So you happen to be a well paid in-demand professional. Well done. Although i'm fairly sure job hopping is not the same as asking for a pay rise......
As I stated above, I'm sure we can all find examples of good & bad in both sectors, but Im just saying that basic salary comparisons are very blunt tool that rarely take in to consideration the added value of pensions, holidays etc.
Sticking with Education then, A basic grade state teacher, for example, may not get paid a great amount, but did their 3 months holidays + 24% employer pension contribution get added into the stats?......probably not.
I believe state teachers are underpaid & deserve more btw.
I mean really Blair was a snake whose only interest was Blair

By any measure I’m significantly better off. My main point here is if you tell public sector workers they can’t strike and that they won’t be paid market rate, don’t then complain when they all fuck off. Unless you just want music, art and English in the curriculum
Similar problem in healthcare from what I understand with people going agency and costing the NHS loads more.
Irony meter off the scale here - you cant make it up
how is the audience selected for QT? this lot aren't making Stratford look good that's for sure.QT is really highlighting how low the bar is to be a government minister. Mick Lynch has spent a week making them look foolish in media appearance and the QT audience has him the nearest I’ve seen him to flustered.
The production company that makes it is as Tory as anything. Look how empty it is and the age profile of the audience.how is the audience selected for QT? this lot aren't making Stratford look good that's for sure.
Did you see last weeks at Newcastle.....they were even worse, came across as a bunch of racists.how is the audience selected for QT? this lot aren't making Stratford look good that's for sure.
Well it's easy to say it every time, but this does push Johnson a bit closer to going, as he's currently a massive elctoral liability. The difference to past regimes is it's hard to see him actually resigning himself, and they can't force him out for another year!Is it death by a thousand self inflicted cuts?
Don't think it would be convenient. if so he'd quit, and the focus would be back on Johnson for not doing so.Dowden has resigned, I wonder if more will follow.
Also there are rumours that a FPN could be announced for Starmer today. Which would of course be incredibly convenient timing for the Tories and definitely not bent, no siree.
I don’t know…. They’ve still got these visionaries voting for them…that is bad for the tories, really bad
For everyone bar johnsonthat is bad for the tories, really bad
