Why do people get surprised when anyone political appears at Glastonbury to give a speech. It happens every year and loads of people give them. Its not like its all music and then he popped in the middle of someone's set.

My MP, Zarah Sultana, is there today talking about the cost of living crisis and there's been political speeches and debates all weekend as there is every year at the festival.

Lol sultana loves a photo opportunity and attention

Aye, was going to post that. Quite bizarre

One thing is for certain. Ukraine has lost many lives the country is in ruins and generations are consigned to decades of poverty

One suspects Mr Zelensky will be ok given his rather dubious financial dealings

Anyway, back to the war itself.

Remember about a month ago when apparently the tide had turned and Russia were about to take Donbas...

...well they've barely made any gains in the last month. Still taking big losses, morale is still shit, command keeps changing because they don't know what they are doing.

Why don’t you want to discuss Mr Zelensky and his acclimated wealth in Cayman island accounts?

As long as he comes up smelling of roses eh?

Because this thread is about the Ukraine war. In case you hadn't noticed.

I have no interest in 'Mr Zelensky's' wealth.

I do find it odd though that you have directed far more criticism at Zelensky than you have Putin.

I understand the idea of fighting to the last man and surrendering not one inch of Ukrainian soil, but if this means that every single occupant of Ukraine is killed and the whole Ukraine is razed to the ground then it begs the question whether it's really worth it.
In WW2 France surrendered and much of it survived intact. The subsequent defeat of Germany by the allies meant that France never endured what Ukraine may have to over decades . I don't trust Putin one bit and while Ukraine has no "allies" to come to it's rescue I see no alternative to its complete destruction unless it is prepared to give some territory.
How the west reacts to that depends on whether we think it worth long term sanctions . Personally I'll go without most of my radiators being on this winter if that helps but I'm sure others wouldn't be that bothered. Money talks, as does being comfortable.

Good grief. What's the fucking point. You've embarrassed yourself throughout this thread with some dreadful takes.

Many many people have observed your binary approach and non questioning on any side @Macca raised an issue and it’s being discussed - not everyone lives in your binary world of what’s good and bad

This is Mr Zelensky - whatever happens he will end up fine even if all his people are dead

Lithuania is now annoying Putin over access to kalingrad . If Russia takes action against Lithuania, as it threatens to do, this will escalate the situation significantly.
I've always wondered why Russia was allowed to effectively keep much if what was East Prussia , after 1945. Does anyone know why ?

WW2 - It was annexed by the Russian SR in 1945.

I haven't said he's perfect or that he's whiter than white so I have no idea what you're on about.

How's that Russian occupation of Kyiv going?

Again this is my point

you see death and destruction as an irrelevance as long as you score an internet point

it’s obvious you see this like some X Box game and are divorced from the horrors of the reality

Says the guy who's obsessed with Internet point scoring 🤣 You love it until you're on the end of it.

It's not about point scoring. It's about discussing the war. You've largely been wrong when discussing it which on its own is fine, but when you start being a twat with being wrong then you'll get called out on it.

Whose calling anyone out, this is a discussion on Zelensky and his role and his motives. Are we allowed to discuss that? Have you read the guardian article?

What are you on about? No one has said you can't discuss it.

I posted something about the current state of the war and you replied to that asking what I think of Zelensky's finances. Completely irrelevant to my post, I don't have to reply to it.

Indeed. They annexed it, cleansed it of German speaking population and no one did anything and never has.

you gave an opinion on it but seemed agitated when Zelensky and his motives are questioned

Well your take was to let Putin have his way.

And if we're comparing dodgy wealth accumulation...

How Are the sanctions going out of interest and I suspect if 25% of our country had been displaced and cities the size of Bristol has been blown into oblivion you may raise questions if Mr Johnson was wearing combat jackets, looking concerned and without a shave but had Cayman island bank accounts and was joining in a virtual festival in Germany and dancing and singing with a Hollywood star.

You would be raising questions wouldn’t you?

Seen an interview on sky by a Ukrainian officer in donbass said they've lost 80% of their troops .. that's 8 in 10 soldiers for anybody wondering . Insanity

80% of his unit, not 80% of total troops or troops in Donbas. That's a very important distinction to make.

Russia have lost something like 60% of the entire force they committed to Ukraine.

When will Russia surrender in your expert view?

Who knows. I'm not an expert and no expert could predict such a thing.

When will they take Kyiv?

It’s just you seem to be challenging someone who clearly knows more than me so I assume you know more than him.

I wasn't challenging Evo at all.

I was just pointing something out for clarification, in case he'd misheard it or just written it down slightly clumsily (unintentionally).
