I don't understand why a self respecting politician would take the chancellor gig atm. Surely it's not a good career move in the medium-long term?
Therein lies the rub

He really could do all sorts of harm to the country nowAmazing

You do realise when you post this stuff it applies WAY more to Johnson (and most of the top ranking Tories) than it does to Starmer.he has no beliefs at all - he stands for nothing but his own ego
Life expectancy to drop to below pensionable age by the end of parliament.Marrs just said Dorries might be health secretary
But Sunak's is that of a twelve year old. Absolutely no clue on stimulating an economy and obssessed with balancing the books even when it'd just make things worse in the longer term.Interestingly or otherwise, Sunak's appears to be because Johnson wants to tax and spend, and he doesn't... or even the other way round!
In other words, Johnson's financial acumen is akin to a three year old's.
It already did in CV1 many years ago. 59, so not even close to retirement age. I think Labour was still in office but wouldn't swear to it.Life expectancy to drop to below pensionable age by the end of parliament.

Regardless, successive governments have raised the age for minimum income guarantee (ie: "Pension Credit") from 60 to 66 at the same time as average life expectancy in many areas has fallen.
Expect lots of U turns from the Boris fan club. Having spent months defending the government’s stance on tackling the cost of living and slagging labour for theirs we’ll now see Boris adopting labour’s stance to applause from the same people that have spent the last few months mocking it, while blaming Sunak for the stance they previously defended.Amazing
3? You mean 7!Now? What's he been doing the last 3 years?
Yup. It's like he's sending YTS lads on from the subs bench. It’s like the minister roles need no capability or understanding and can be picked up and dropped at will with no consequence
What a crock of shit
Calling it now: Sunak in, bounce in the polls, quick election based around how Labour are radicals and the Sunak is the best bland man in suit.

nahCould happen, especially if Starmer gets a FPN
Part of me kind of admires Boris Johnson's sheer bloody mindedness in hanging on regardless of what's going on around him!
I did think that yesterday. Totally selfish obviously but does not give a shit. I wouldn’t mind so much if he had this cunning plan to better the country but I think we all know other than spraying cash around to try to pick up enough votes in a future election he’s not got much to offer
This quote, if true, sums it up
‘Boris Johnson was asked by an ally if he would quit in the wake of the resignation of Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid, his response was emphatic: “F*** that”’
