I have grave misgivings about the country being run by a man who once forgot his wife's nationality.
The scary thing is, in terms of competence he's as good as it gets, and in a contest of bland white men in suits, the electorate would go for the blue rosette.

Him, Sunak and Tudgenhat seemly vaguely sane albeit useless, the rest are absolute mentalists.
I always thought Javid, although hideously opposed to me ideologically, was somebody who at least had his head screwed on this side of insane.

I'd love to see some of these idiots go head to head with Starmer in the commons or in a debate.

Johnson could get away with his awful performances in PMQs because he's a 'bit of a character' or whatever.

These chancers like Braverman and Patel would get destroyed and it would be wonderful to watch them flounder.

Id imagine they’d lose a lot of sleep coming across hard man Starmer at the dispatch box

In all seriousness it'd be interesting how it'd pay with 'normal' the other side. He's been doing the floor with Johnson recently (although my cat could do that!) and he dismantled the government through the Brexit debates.

But none of that plays well with perception.

I don't think anyone has ever claimed him to be a 'hard man'.

But what he is is a very capable orator, and able to pick apart an opponent at will.

Idiots like Braverman would just embarrass themselves.

How could he argue with Braverman, she's only regurgitating the same reactionary shite Reeves came out with not long ago?

Shes not going to be the leader is she? That’s like saying IDS could beat dicky Burgon - it’s a senseless comparison

“a very capable orator” Christ he’s no Neil Kinnock is he

Well take your pick. Truss, Patel, Sunak, Javid, Zawahi. He'd embarrass them all. That's the point, they're a fucking useless.

Hunt is about the only one who could look semi competent against him.

Funnily enough I think he'd do just fine against a right wing loon like Braverman. Regardless of what Reeve said.

And he gets elected and Reeves implements policies that Braverman approves of - how is that improving the lot of the working man in this country?
We need an alternative not more of the same.

Wallace dropping is good news for Labour

It's going to be the thin skinned austerity monster or one of the head wobblers

Are you Shugs by any chance?

Genuine question, as much because I know you're quite passionate on animal rights. Would Jeremy Hunt's stance on fox hunting automatically stop you voting for the Conservatives if he became leader?

No more so than anyone who doesn’t support terrorism and sided with Corbyn really so clearly not

What a sorry bunch. Difficult to see what improvements are going to be made from Johnson, you can’t even put honesty and integrity back on the table with most of them. If any.

Shapps also terrible. Is this really the best our country's governing party has to offer? Really?

In a alternative universe and labour had 12 people standing would it be better - could you name 12?

This is all gaming to obtain votes amongst fringe contenders who then pass on to their actual choice - there are 4 serious contenders and one outside one. The others are standing for their puppet masters

I didn't think Javid was a fringe candidate to be honest. Why keep deflecting-it's an embarrassing start to what should be a serious discussion on fitness to lead

let’s be honest - if they still had Winston Churchill he’d be in the great orators pocket

I get that Starmer is too centrist for you, and that's fine.

But you can't honestly think that the working man would be no better off under a Starmer government than a Braverman government.

It would have been better without Johnson's Brexit cull.

After that, this is what you're left with.

Quite funny actually

It is it’s all over the great orator is preparing for a landslide victory

What evidence is there that they would?
When a Labour shadow cabinet doesn't get behind workers striking for a below the rate of inflation pay rise in a cost of living crisis that's bad enough, when they don't get behind workers trying to get a 10 percent reduction in their wages that was introduced during the pandemic reinstated then that strongly suggests they are not the party of the working man as far as I'm concerned.

Grendel right now pretending that he's totally OK with his beloved party eating themselves alive and the prospect of Starmer (who he doesn't care about yet posts about all day every day) leading the country
