What's this got to do with Corbyn?
When Starmer issued his ten pledges they were all over it, now its a bad idea, its hilarious.
It really is like a cult. Nothing to do with whether they like a policy, all about which way starmer tells them the winds blowing.
What it’s got to do with Corbyn is he was so toxic that we’ve got to position ourselves a million miles from him.
Nationalisation would be great, but it’s also a topic that will set alarm bells about spending off and lead to endless comparisons with Corbyns time as it was a tent pole policy for him.
Most people supporting Starmer want to win. I’ve had one Labour govenrment in my life and my kids have had 0. Id like them to get the benefit before they reach adulthood and if that means dropping a few fringe policies to put across a sensible restrained image then fine. Corbyn got two goes at his electoral strategy. I’m willing to give Keir one. If it doesn’t work then I hope the left manage to find someone with more charisma or leadership skills than a wet lettuce and can give it a proper go. And frankly their time would be better spent looking at how to make a left wing agenda electable than making up shit nicknames for the party leader with the right.
If you can’t support the idea that we try and assuage voter concerns to get elected then fair enough, but it’s going to keep happening as it’s clearly his strategy. And right now we’re ahead in the polls so he gets to keep doing it even if it wasn’t an unwritten rule that all Labour leaders get one GE campaign.
