Not sure if the above is completely up to date, but the only resemblance to what we were would be we have 'Coventry' in the team name.

I can understand fans wanting more success and top flight football again, but I'd not want that at the cost of losing the clubs identity as well

I think Sisu have realised that they can’t take the club any further forward. Realistically, they won’t get a massive price for us either. Listening to the price of football podcast last week, they were saying that on paper you can only value players on what they were purchased for. So in real terms that’s 5-8 million tops. I’m not sure how much the training ground is worth? Maybe 5-6 million. So in essence we’re worth £15m tops and we don’t have the lease for the ground. I can’t see what Sisu’s exit plan is.

The training ground has charges against them. They have loans and interest charges amounting to over £20 million (?) wouldn’t seem much to buy really is there?

I’d disagree - the going rate for Derby with the stadium was 50m, Birmingham sold for 80m to the Chinese owners.

Forest cost 50m, and Hull who are an infinitely smaller club than us went for 30m

I’d say us at 62m - with the lease is about right

What would SISU need to recoup the original investment and what they have spread about in varuios companies? To clear them off the books would it be somewhere around 30m?
The club is gettin astable foothold now and increasing revenue streams. The stadium has a sub let for 10 years and now the possibility (if rumour is correct) a way to purchase the full lease of the stadium from WASP (was it 150 year lease?)
Any business person will look at that as a 'whole' and very favourable. 50m say would be cheap!
Would SISU cash in on our star players first? - forcing new owners to find immediate cash for replacements?

It being a business is one element to it.

If you want to get rid of everything else to accommodate only the business side then you're a very different supporter to me.

Sir Bobby Robson say it better than I ever could:

"What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

I would never throw that away to become a sport washing product for a global entertainment brand and attract a few kids with no real association to the club on the way.

As someone who has lived in Melbourne quite a bit here is my take on Melbourne Heart and Melbourne City.
Never really understood why Melbourne Heart would attract new fans when Melbourne Victory had been created a few years earlier. They did though attract new set of fans, although in less numbers. Prior to A League being set up the old teams were supported mostly on Ancestral heritage lines which caused a lot of problems. Maybe Heart tapped into certain Ancestral line, I don't really know.

Within a couple of years Manchester City took them over. They have been quite successful. However overall the standard is disappointing. I love football but only went to one match Melbourne Victory v Sydney. The atmosphere was good but A league is going backwards in its significance.

The national team also has gone backwards although thankfully we qualified for world cup again somehow.

After suffering the awful SISU era, the last thing I would want as a reward is Red Bull refranchising. We have finally got our respect back. Last season was great. We have proved what a great club Coventry City are by how well our fans were viewed by others last season.

All conjecture but here is my view in on Mike Ashley. Anyone remember how he ran Sports Direct and treated his workers? I'm very much anti SISU on what they have done but there are a lot of other questionable owners out there. I think that's the nicest thing I've ever ever said about SISU!!
I did bump into Joy after a game last year and she seemed OK.

I understand where you're coming from, but as someone who's grown up only knowing us to be shit I still wouldn't want a complete rebrand. Would you want to support MK Dons if you were a Wimbledon fan? I know it's not quite the same thing but it wouldn't be Coventry City if we were took over by someone like Red Bull.

Red Bull Coventry City playing in the piss drink arena wearing completely different colours in a stadium full of plastic fans isn't something that appeals to me if I'm honest.

We definitely need investment and sponsorship / brand deals are probably the way we'll go about it but I'd imagine it'll be a lot less subtle than a Red Bull situation.
