As someone who isn't an expert at lawns, can anyone tell me how quickly this type of damage can be repaired? I mean, are we talking day, weeks, months?

“Last season the condition of the pitch was highlighted as a concern and we expected that this would be addressed by Wasps and the Arena, who are responsible for the pitch, over the Summer – sadly this has not been the case, and this is the result of that, plus the large amount of use at the Commonwealth Games last week.

“I am seeking urgent talks with Stephen Vaughan, the Chief Executive at Wasps, and the Arena over the condition of the pitch, and expect immediate and significant improvements to be made to make the pitch playable as soon as possible.”

First subject of those talks should be 'compensation'.

Ann absolute disgrace at this late stage. A lot of questions to be asked and answered.

That’s good Dave I’m sure you only knew it as like this yesterday

So, where do we go from here.

If it’s unsafe to play on now, that must cast huge doubt on whether it can be fit for Wednesday.

Perhaps more importantly, what does this mean for the rest of the season. With a more concentrated than usual football programme into November, plus of course the rugby games, it seems difficult to believe that much can be done to radically improve the surface.

Add into that, that an extra fixture is the very last thing we’d want to try to squeeze in when the fixtures are already so compacted. A few more postponements and the whole season could become a nightmare.

Someone decided that it was a good idea to have the concert in June and then the rugby 7s. I think that person will be very lucky if he/she keeps their job.

Bollocks, guess I'm finishing the electrics in my shed instead of drinking cold beer and watching the city. What a farce.

I had a call from a friend who thinks the EFL will at least fine us for this, and possibly issue a points deduction. Anyone know what the actual rules might be around this?

I bet they turned down a chance to host women euros to take the games. What a shower of wankers whichever way. They need to go, nothing to do with the city anyway.

Absolutely gutted at this. Season has just started and its a complete momentum killer on the pitch. At a time when the ITK's are saying we're desperately short of money, this will also be a big blow to our immediate cash flow off the pitch however.

With it looking like a fantastic day tomorrow weatherwise and good advance sales we have lost out on a potential bumper crowd, which is unlikely to be replicated when we play them on a Tuesday night in Winter.

Definitely a possibility of both, are Wasps liable, surely as the owner of the stadium they are
