To be fair, Wasps are on record as saying it rather than just verbally so not too hard to prove to the EFL.

I was more referring to being part of the contract or even email exchange with some kind of commitment and timeline , rather than saying in a press conference once and 12 months ago , I think if the club have the first part then they have a very strong case

You would also think the club would be consulted on the type of pitch and how was to be installed etc

There is no way that they took their eye off the ball with the pitch, didn't they fork out a load of money for the new training pitch at Ryton. If you want to play the style of football that City play at the moment, the pitch has a massive part to play in it.

My gut feeling is that there is a game being played here and the endgame is to get ownership of the Arena one way or another!

If I'm hiring something and I have paid my bills I don't expect to have to chase them constantly to make sure I'm getting what I paid for.

As far as I see it the only facts are that the pitch was trashed by the Rugby 7s and there was insufficient time to repair it to a safe condition before our first home game.

Whether the club knew this, whether the club was insufficiently proactive is not the main issue. This, and everything else, such as SISU manipulating the issue to gain some sort of legal advantage over Wasps, is pure speculation from certain individuals who are themselves manipulating the situation because of their agenda against SISU and the club.

Personally I'll wait until all the facts emerge before I judge anybody although it's obvious that ACL has failed in its duty to some extent.

It makes no sense to have re-laid the pitch prior to the CWG as it would almost certainly be just as bad now. The rugby only finished 10 days ago, and I believe the CWG had contractual use of the arena until a few days ago. So how could things have turned out differently by events that CCFC had any control over? Am I missing something?

There was talk from more than one place that we had the first two games away, and could even have asked for the first 3 which is what happened in 2005/6. If we had a reasonable belief that the pitch would be that damaged, surely we'd have put the request in?

No he is on an apprentice contract and has work experience there to learn a trade but under the management of the Arena staff - our actual ground staff do not work there - he works on the pitch for football and rugby. If he remains as a CCFC employee after the apprenticeship he would no longer work there. I assume we agreed to be part of an apprentice scheme with the collaboration of wasps ground staff to train up someone as a skill.

Unless you think a £5 an hour apprentice can be responsible for managing the pitch.

I'd be surprised if we're employing an apprentice without the necessary supervision

My point is if you were hiring something and had been promised an upgrade and you continued to pay etc and nothing was happening in that time , you would ask or discuss in that period surely at least , not saying it has to be done constantly .

If this has been done then great

Everyone and their dogs (except for Anthony Hornsby) could have told you that pitch was wrecked by the CWG, and unless there was a secret pitch relaying in the middle of the night it was going to start like that for the Rotherham game. If no-one at the club realised that then it’s on them.

Regardless of Wasps' promises or shortcomings the club's narrative makes them seem like complete buffoons. Especially when you match it against previous comments.

in fairness there was no access in the previous 2 weeks . i do however think they should of been concerned earlier when clearly no plan for relaying the pitch was forthcoming

It is hard to disagree with that, you only had to go into a stand and look at it to see it was at best dodgy, was it that difficult to get in.

I don't think it's the former two. There's certainly something strange going on behind the scenes.

You shouldn't have to, and as for the contract situation if you're renting the Arena for the purpose of playing football matches it's surely an implied term that the venue will be of a standard that will allow that to happen. It's literally not fit for purpose.

As for what that means though in terms of reparations is another thing. The contract may well be voidable, but the club aren't going to want to do that, but If there's no specific clause included regarding compensation I don't know what you can do other than set in motion yet another court case demanding loss of earnings and/or recouping costs incurred.

From the sounds of it I doubt we can make a claim about having a new pitch as it comes across that was more a gentleman's agreement than contractual, but the pitch not passing an inspection is an avenue that is definitely open.

I think while it’s just one postponement they will be okay with it, but it has to be sorted for the Wigan game, I hope they are on to it now.

Yes, but again we don't know that to be fact.

I believe the club should have been sufficiently aware of the risk to ask for away games at the start of the season and they might have done, but we don't know. That's my point.

The problem here is you have Wasps, CCFC, EFL and Common Wealth games and lots of fingers pointing in different directions.

Anybody who thinks the blame is 100 per cent one parties fault is deluded.

In fairness we dont know if CCFC flagged up concerns during rugby 7's. EFL seemed to be on hand to inspect pitch Friday which is first time CCFC claim they could?

Who knows it is a mess. But I doubt one party is to blame.
