Most think of themselves including chip on shoulder types like you
And that's why the world is such a fucking shithole for the vast majority of people, not to mention most of the other species we share the planet with.

And it's very different desiring enough to have food in your belly and a roof over your head to saying 'fuck everyone else, I want loads." An while we treat people who think like that as people will should aspire to be we're going to continue to be a cancer on this planet.

You’ve been the wrong side of every political vote since you could vote haven’t you surely?

Regarding Ukraine do you support another £2.5 billion on more arms for Ukraine? I’m sure many Uk people could benefit from that?
Being on the wrong side of a vote and being wrong aren't the same thing.

There are so many people looking for an excuse not to vote Tory, trust me on that. The problem is, and you can see it even in this thread which is a highly left leaning one, that there is very little self-critique. I well and truly agree that the Tories, for example, are generally a bunch of pricks and their behaviour, policies, and the like do not deserve to be rewarded with support from the general public. Yet, the opposition isn't doing enough to pull the swing voters away.

Look at Sweden and Italy, almost no mention of that here at all. If there is, it is just some sound bites about 'the far right'. Unfortunately, the left is being rejected everywhere at a time where they should be clearing up. I know people on here will try to argue that I am wrong, but I don't know how many times I can say it as someone who falls into the category of a swing voter myself. The left need to stop blaming everyone else and sort themselves out, they'll then win easily and probably stay in power for a considerable length of time. A large chunk of people voting for the Tories come election time aren't coming out of the polling stations with massive grins on their faces but they'll keep voting for them until they have another party to vote for that they can relate to better on all matter of levels.
The problem is so much more seems to be expected of left leaning parties to convince voters.

It's like if you wanted to make a journey and you've got two options, Tory Trains and Labour Coaches.

People instinctively want to choose the train because they see it as being quicker and more efficient. But the company are tearing out the seats and toilets in the standard coaches in order to give those in first class caviar and champagne, while randomly changing destinations and cancelling services.

Meanwhile the coach company quietly mentions that it has a service that takes a bit longer to get there but is reliable, has the amenities and will get you to your destination.

But people saying that because they don't offer a three course dining service and the WiFi can't download every single video on YouTube in a second then it's really not worth getting and they'll just keep waiting for the train.

Decriminalisation of the user is where it should head rather than legalisation of the drug. The resource should be into the disbanding of all of the drug networks and crimewave that it funds. Making it accessible will not eradicate the issues that co-exist.
But how would this help disband the drug networks? They still control the market as it's an illegal product but with no fear of reprisals from the law arguably more people will be willing to use the drugs.

Legalise the drug you've got a far better chance of controlling the market and reducing the ability of gangs to make money from it, then using the tax you can now collect on it to focus on treatment and making it less socially acceptable, like they have with smoking. That perception change takes time, but is far more effective long term.

Not only that you can collect tax from legitimate businesses selling legitimate goods (an trade worth an estimated £1B in the UK). Probably even more important you can control the product by licensing only the varieties that have smaller amounts of the compounds that do the worst damage to the brain, especially in developing brains of younger users.

Project brexit the IMF seems to have begun. Am I right in in thinking that would involve brexiting the UN at the same time? Said it a while ago but the cult won’t be happy until we’ve left every organisation that expects a certain standard from it’s members. They basically want us to be a rogue state while shouting sovereignty.

I mean, I think they have some pretty dumb beliefs about how to run an economy, and they’re backfiring quickly.

You appear to think the only explanation for people acting differently from how you would do it is if there’s some kind of evil conspiracy afoot - which ironically puts you in the same category as the Mail, albeit on the other end of the ideological spectrum.
In a way it's actually being kind to Truss and Kwarteng in that it assumes they're reasonably intelligent to know this was going to happen.

Because the only other option is that they're clueless economic fuckwits...

Seen it said that if we studied animals and there was a small group who hoarded everything while the rest suffered we would think there's something wrong with them but that's exactly what we do. A handful of people with more money than they can possibly ever spend while there's a decent chunk of society worrying about how they will afford to pay the rent, eat or if they can turn the heating on.

The front pages are great this morning. All talking about the economic crisis wether that be the pound crashing, IMF intervention, mortgage companies pulling deals etc. meanwhile The Daily Heil has to pretend it’s bothered about what one of Stephen Laurence’s killers is doing in jail while The Express is trying to promote panic about Covid and Flu over the winter months when most people are worried about paying bills over the winter months.

Allegedly 16 letters of no confidence in already. Could be her first and last party conference. She needs a good performance or it’s bound to push others over the edge.

Bank of England now joining the IMF in a spot of door knocking. You know your budget has gone well when the central bank launches an emergency intervention in the name of financial stability.

Question is: do they double down and remove BoE independence and say fuck the IMF, or does she sack lover boy and blame it all on him?

And who exactly do you get in who is on Team Truss and isn’t an absolute lunatic?

Well if the end goal is to personally enrich themselves as much as possible, surely they go for the former?

Kwarteng seems to be the moderating force to Truss!
