First 8 away games last 3 seasons.

20/21 W 0, D 3, L 5 F 6 A 13 and 3 points
21/21 W2, D 2, L 4, F 6 A 13 and 8 points
21/22 W1, D 4 , L 3 F 8 ,A12 and 7 points

Surprisingly we scoring more goals and a better defence. No where as bad as many have suggested.

NEXT 17 GAMES
5 AWAY and 12 AT HOME. This is ridiculous.

We will be more than fine.

Still backing us easily for top half finish.

As I keep on saying since before Middlesboro game we will average 1.5 PPG going forward.

What’s our points against the teams we’ve played stacked up against last season? I’d say that’s a more valid comparison

Look, I know we’ve played more away than home. I just think it’s a dangerous to take those home games for granted. Based on season form if we’d have played 13 games, we’d be good for 12 points which puts us 23rd. Ain’t trying to wind anyone up or piss on peoples corn flakes.

By my reckoning it was 17 points if you change the promoted/ relegated teams as Fulham - Burnley, Bournemouth - Watford, Forest - Norwich, Peterborough - Wigan, Derby - Rotherham, & Barnsley - Sunderland.

Given that we beat Sheff U & Stoke in the comparative fixtures last season that comparison could yet get worse before it gets better.

The home form people cling onto is a howler aswell

Won 4 in 24

Already lost 2 out of 3 at home this season aswell

It's not just the missing points from the postponed games though, it's the disruption and knock on effects they caused

Our players were under cooked while other teams were match fit.

And if we'd won one or two of those games then as well as the points, it's the improvement of form and morale which could have improved some of the following results.

It's all hypotheticals of course, but I just don't think it's as simple as looking at PPG.

But we're still bottom of the league. Still missing gilt edged chances, still getting the rub of the green at the back

Sorry but this bolded bit is nonsense

We were conceding way too many goals and everyone was rightly saying we need to tighten up and concede less

Now we've conceded 1 goal in 5 games and that's just getting the rub of the green?

Give them the credit they deserve for that.

Weekend win always leaves me happy - if we were cut adrift, I'd understand people still mithering. We are on their shirt tails now, with games in hand . None of those are a given, but yesterday was a huge boost for team and fans. Just don't understand the current wallowing in despair.

Only drew away at Stoke so could well match or better that.

Nothing wrong with saying don't count home games as wins. But u also can't count them as losses. U simply must wait and see

Previously in thread you said we were bottom based on merit. Despite ehaving played 3 less games than everyone else.

Come on

I’ll stand by it. At the time of the post, we massively lacked quality and fluidity other than a couple of glimpses in the games already played.

Amazing isn't it the 'I told you so' brigade giving it stacks when were still 3 points from safety

...with 3 (very winnable) games in hand, one of our best players returning tomorrow, 3 wins in 5, 1 goal conceded in 6.

Agree there's no need to be 'giving it stacks' and there's a long way to go, but things are clearly looking miles better than when people were saying we'd be 5 points adrift of 23rd at the WC break, where on earth is our first win going to come from etc etc

Yet u seen to want to ignore that we have played 3 games less too!!

Just be balanced like me

This is the main thing with the 'bedwetters' for me. It's the lack of balance.

There was no mention of games in hand, disruption to the season, missing O'Hare, losing Hyam etc etc - it was just absolute OMG WE'RE GOING TO GET 7 POINTS ALL SEASON and if you dared mention any extenuating circumstances you were told to wake up and take your head out of your arse.

The issue with the whole thing (and most things on here) is everyone acts like they're one of the TalkSport clickbait crew. It's either 'WE'RE GETTING RELEGATED, WORST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE' or 'WE SHOULD GO AUTOS!' (someone on here has been in both camps in the last three months bizarrely). There can be balance. You can accept we have faults, had a poor and interrupted start to the season, but also see our strengths and consider us to be a team more capable than the bottom three. We're not over the hill by any means and there is still plenty of work to be done, but we have bounced back well and let's hope we can build on it.

Agree. It seems everything has to be either black or white with no nuance.

We were shit and deserved to be bottom of the league BUT with massive extenuating circumstances.

I don't think there are many "giving it stacks" I just didn't see us all of a sudden becoming shit. If Gyok had been sold and not replaced along with some of the others I'd have shared a lot of the concerns but the core team was intact. I'd have preferred one or two more signings but can't have everything. Also the players we own are more experienced in the league now bringing the number of seasoned championship players to way more than the season we got promoted.

Not sales I’m worried about in Jan but whether we get replacements in. I think the squad could do with freshening up in two or three places so could end up being net positive even if we do lose one or both of Vik and Cal.

Selling and then buying in Jan would hardly be ideal - teams would know we’d have some money and desperate!

Thats strange id say we are playing with less fluidity and quality last few games than we were earlier in the season.

I’d say vs Millwall (before the howler) we looked very, very good - not seen that since, yet!
Better than Sunderland overall. 2nd half dominated. Yse we were crap first 20 mins.

Better than Hull, barring the howlers.

Much much better than Preston.

Better than Birmingham first half.
Much better than luton too.

Vik and Godden missed some sitters in all these games.
