Either way I'm pretty sure they didn't plan on still being here by this time.
Possibly not, but the original fund would have been written down / off a long time ago.

As an aside, Liverpool's (and Boston Red Sox) owners are a hedge fund, and have owned the Red Sox for a couple of decades.

The plan with us quite clearly was for a quick promotion to the top flight and a sale at profit. Then it turned into a plan to grab the stadium on the cheap and sell combined at a profit. Now it seems to be to strip off a pound of flesh every season and put zero extra into the club in the process.

They've been here 15 years. That in itself is extremely odd for a hedge fund usually looking for a quick buck
I don't think there has been an abundance of buyers. Sisu were the only ones willing to take us on and saved us from administration. Since then we've had our ups and downs as is well known, but who else has been willing to put money down?
Plenty of bullshitters and rumours that's all.
Now that the arena is potentially available, we will see who comes crawling out the woodwork.

U.S. sport is very different - basically you're protected even if you make the worst decisions ever because there's no risk of relegation etc. You could lose every game one year and still be able to win the big prize the next. In fact you can even be helped to do so because the draft system means you'd get the pick of the young players coming through.

Fans will continue to pile money in because if not the owner will just throw a tantrum and threaten to move the team somewhere else, which with a limited number of pro teams means there's no end of takers willing to throw millions/billions at attracting one in terms of tax breaks and infrastructure.

A sports team in the U.S. is a goldmine.

Are we just going to type a lot of words totally unrelated to the point made...?

We look more solid defensively than we ever have, we aren’t a club with a bottomless pit of cash, we have 4 very very capable centre halves.

I honestly think the squad we have today (addition of palmer, panzo and Doyle, bidwell looking a very solid option at LB and with Josh Eccles development) that we actually have a stronger squad today than we did with hyam

Struggle to understand the fans who berate the owners over ‘a lack of investment’ when we held onto our big 3, absolutely nobody thought that Gus, Cal and Gyok would all be here this season, yet here we are. The investment in the summer was holding onto these guys.

we kept onto all 3 by accident

Hyam is a good championship defender. He was an excellent servant for us. However he’s moved on and our defence is solid at the moment. Not bringing in another centre half is more worrying than selling Hyam. If we get a couple of injuries there we are fucked

Good honest pro hyam wish him well think he would have happily stayed with us. Would be interesting to see if he can step up in the premier league that would be some rise from league 2

Apparently at fault for the Birmingham goal today but he did get another win. Hyam is a great player but there is no way he would throw his head on the line like our back 3 are now.

One goal conceded in how many?

Apparently it was achieved back in 1934, so just one more game to go.

It's an all time record for our time in the top 2 divisions.
We were in the third division south in 1934 (if my memory serves me well, I'm getting on a bit now)

Let's hope after tonight's game it will be.

Comparing him tonight to Panzo makes it look like unbelievable business. He was awful first half.

We won so he’s shite

he’s just Hyam - same tentative weak Hyam - and slow. With good players around him he can sometimes compete but he’s just anonymous

Pretty much spot on. Good player but the idea he's this God is laughable. He'd genuinely struggle to get into the side now.

To be honest if you were going to design a player who would give Hyam a tough time of it, it would be Gyokeres.

But who cares, he’s gone, we won.
