Ashley strikes me as the type of bloke that has to get a bargain to get that sense of “winning”, that sense that he’s outthought the establishment / another businessman/woman. Look at Sports Direct and how he’s made that and now House of Fraser.

But then again he flies everywhere in a chopper - which ain’t cheap.

My take: he’ll get hold of the Wasp brand and try to show everyone that he’s smarter than them by getting them back to something like.

I also think he’ll want to get hold of CCFC and want us to finish higher than NUFC - just to say “F—- You, football establishment”
So you think nothing will come of the Wasps legends bid which is already being considered by RFU?

Well funny how many people are talking about Ashley owning us and money invested etc

We're in for a world of pain the next few seasons. Seppala v Ashley will go on longer than the Vietnam war. 2 people who are used to getting thier own way, no matter who or what collateral gets harmed. On this occasion, us and our football club.

Ashley will not just pick us up. Hes clever hes got the stadium and again puts sisu in a corner

What does Joy do when the backs against the wall? Litigation, threats, move us, pull funding, make enemies.

This is the worst possible outcome. Of course he wants the club but he wouldn't think twice about distressing us to get it cheaper.

Amazed how many of you are still in cloud cuckoo land with this and talking as if hes already our owner

Where does the American bloke and the 49/51 percent model you posted about fit into all this?

Would be one end on the pessimism to optimism scale.

What is their vision for regeneration? They're a bunch of fucking amateurs who have made some horrendously bad and costly mistakes to the detriment of this City.

And I'm not talking about anything to do with the Ricoh though even that has turned into a massive fuck up. Anyone who bought into this city of rugby bollocks propped up by a 35 million bond needs to give their head a wobble.

The council know needto make sure they're not involved in another shit show that drags on for 15 years.

It doesn’t matter. I’m not really passionate about my job, but that’s what I say at interview cos it needs to be said.

Offer will be accepted, they will lose p share and the highest they will play is championship next season but who’d be surprised if they won their appeal. I wouldn’t

How can they have appealed?

Isn’t Ashley promising to make Coventry the hub of his business? Sure I read something about large warehouses and moving his HQ here. That’s absolutely huge for the city especially when contrasted with a skint owner who won’t even fund the company they’ve got appropriately.

He also has this little beauty to run around in

Unless a partner could bring money in. When we met reeves and duggins a successful football club was worth tens of millions a year but it was just a drop in the ocean compared to the hundreds of millions that the city has as annual turnover

“Why Oh Why are the council prioritising companies that promise investment into the city and not the one threatening legal action and refusing to actually bid or even engage 😭

Absolute mystery mate. One for Scooby-Doo that.
Yer, because CCC treat everyone fairly and squarely don't they...

'The council was ordered by the ombudsman to apologise to Open Doors in 2014 following the ‘maladministration with injustice’ ruling. It was the latest of several ombudsman’s rulings against the council in favour of the company. Mr Reeves wrote an apology letter to Open Doors.'

All parties in this have always been as bad as each other, don't be fooled into thinking otherwise.

I did say it in a post before all the chocolate bollocks, but SISU were expecting admin. We all were. That was when they were going to offer, along with the americans they had brought in, deal ready to go, stadium and 51% of the club.

Sisu would only hang around with their 49% to cream off any potential prem/ massive sale of player/ future stadium sale money to recoup the remaining amount of their 'investment' since 07.

But again, they took the piss, waited too long thinking no one else would offer outside of admin and here we are

Well yeah it does matter as the interviewer is supposed to be able to see through it - anyway in wasps case it’s more like a cleaner applying to be a surgeon and telling them they will be the biggest and best surgeon in Europe because well - they just want to be

At Ansty apparently.

As much as we might not like it, the local economy will always be a higher priority for the council than the football club. From what we know Ashley wants to develop the CBS as well, like Wasps promised to, but actually likely to happen. I know our priority is “the club owns the ground” but realistically outside of sentimental reasons there’s no reason for anyone else to have that priority.

Same with Wasps, at the time they were faced with an empty bowl and were promised top flight sport with a nationally recognised brand and investment into the area.

Even the main complaint about Sisu outside of has been lack of investment into the club

Not sure what this has to do with my point TBH. I’m not claiming the council are perfect and fair, far from it, I’m claiming Sisu have refused to do the bare minimum.

They haven’t yet as far as I’m aware. I’m sure they will

I don’t see why your so hung up on this

The RFU haven’t even approved the owner. The other clubs will vote against the appeal as they clearly want a restructure of two leagues of 10. They have no players, no staff and no ground.

Hahahaha OK mate. You rock up to an interview like that and let me know how you get on. They had an empty bowl and Sisu saying they weren’t interested and were offered top flight sport in it. It would have been a dereliction of duty to say “no thanks, we’re going to hang about in case Sisu change their minds”.

I would say ‘he’s only bidding for the stadium right now’ doesn’t necessarily translate to ‘he doesn’t want to get the football club as well’. He tried to get Derby before the stadium in the summer and ended up with neither, so it makes sense to focus on the ground first.

SISU cannot compete with a genuine billionaire. Trying to distress him would be like Homer Simpson standing there getting hit by Drederick Tatem hoping he gets tired. What is cheap to him and what is cheap to them are quite different-so get on the phone

According to you the council have no say in who owns the lease?

And there’s the rub acl will go into admin but with an agreement for Ashley to take over

Read SaddleBrains post, they thought (again) they could get cute and pick it up for cheap, and again they were wrong.

So they rather than put it on an open market they just gave it to anyone who turned up first showing interest.

They would have handed it to Haskell

So no interview needed. First knock on the door “guys here’s the keys”

How many other top flight sports teams were looking to move exactly?

You keep repeating the mantra regarding this. Surely if the councils job as you put it was jobs, regeneration etc that’s its primary responsibility. So at the time of an events company such as AEG had been allowed to bid and outbid wasps by a considerable amount then surely that’s meeting the priority?

Acl will go into admin. I’m told no one could get hold of the directors

Thing is Ashley was offered pre pack and preferred bidder status etc

Council/ACL pushed it through quickly to avoid an open market admin knowing the only other show in town was SISU.

As i said the other day, this is what i meant by council still having snouts in the trough

It’s still a sports arena Grendel.

Legally no. Do you accept that Sisu have handled this whole thing badly?

Well I’ve said they have - I think what Pete has been told is they were stitched up as a pre pack was agreed by all parties in advance of administration so all other bids were never considered
