1- Highest pass completion in the team?

I’ll give you that. If you want someone to make a five yard pass he’s your man.

High pass completion isn’t a bonus for an AM, it suggests safe passing choices.

He's played 14 games centre midfield not AM

And makes very few passes for a CM. He’s nowhere near as involved as other midfielders. As I keep saying: he runs about a lot and makes safe five yard passes but you need more at this level.

Not sure he can sway you at this point

I’ve seen him have maybe three good games for us. He can sway me by being effective on the pitch. If he’s a DM win the ball, if he’s an AM open up defences.

In fairness, he scored against Blackburn and assisted against Watford

That's effective

Whoscored has his defensive contribution as strong

I thought he did well last year, he went through a stage of tearing around midfield and nipping the ball off toes, little give and goes out wide with Dabo and Maatsen.

This year I’ve been less impressed. Good assist today but other than that there hasn’t been the wing-back link up and he’s been bullied off the ball.

He scored two goals (both of which it’s almost like the defender’s assisted by kicking through whilst he’s shooting). Other than that his shooting has been delayed (prefers to pass) or miles off target.

We’ve got some of the best midfielders that I’ve seen here in about 15 years (Hamer, O’Hare, Palmer (getting there), even Sheaf (so frustrating - quality player but does some stupid things). Allen is probably our 5th best midfielder but still better than most that has come before.

Allen’s best attribute is that he can find space and offer an outlet. He then needs to give and go. His dribbling goes nowhere because he doesn’t have the pace or strength.

He offers something to the team but he’s no Zidane.
Are you nuts? He scored twice because he’s doing what we scream for from everyone else . Shoot first time

Ffs, some people on this forum boil my piss. He's not top drawer, never will be, but he does a job and a job that we need. He also never, ever goes hiding in games.

Anyway, we've all got our opinions. Rant over.
I find this strange.

I don't think anyone has said that he goes hiding have they? I haven't seen anyone say he doesn't work hard. All I have seen is that a few people feel he isn't as good as players like O'Hare, Hamer, Palmer and Sheaf. It's a bit boring just to say all our players are equally good.

I haven't seen derisory comments like those aimed at Biamou and Wilson, or the completely unfair 'lazy' comments about Palmer and Walker.

There’s no resurrection Allen has always been a decent player and always puts a shift in not bothered if as some say he’s only just about a championship player that’s the division we are in, his work rate is exceptional and creates space about time some on here got off his back.

It's not the majority though is it? Most people recognise his qualities, quite a few see limitations and think we could sign better, and only a small vociferous minority keep slagging him off.

I think actually on here he’s been slagged off by a lot of people - no technique, shit, a dwarf, adds nothing to the team - even against West Brom when he created our best chances they aren’t anything to do with him

It’s been relentless. He doesn’t divide opinion it’s all pretty much one way

I think it is the majority tbf.
Just because he got on the score sheet today, dosn't mean he's suddenly become the next Pele.
You can't question his effort, but the overall contribution isn't good enough.

Fair play to him for getting his goal, it was a decisive goal and got us the 3 valuable points, but it's absolutely laughable if anyone seriously things it's in anyway some kind of vindication for his place in the starting line up.

We need better than Allen ( and quite a number of others tbf) if we are looking to challenge the top 6.

Would you drop Hamer, Sheaf Palmer or O'hare to accommodate Allen ..... I don't think so.

robins mostly left palmer out when they were all fit

Indeed.

Imagine how much of a bellend you'd have to be to relentlessly slag him off for years.

Oh.

Allen other than one season at Burton has a goal scoring record of one a season - he’s an ok back up midfielder at this level but that’s it

Allen is s league 1 player he’s nowhere near the level required
the Allen contract renewal continues rk look totally absurd

Alen is mediocre at best and offers nothing

If you’d rather have the likes of Jamie Allen who does nothing ever then good for you

Allen is embarrassing in front of goal abs other than huff and puff offers very little

Because otherwise he’s a stand out player compared to third rate tripe like Jamie Allen

Allen has been utterly useless and hopelessly out of his depth

There’s always a player crowd have to knock Shipley, Waghorn last season, Biamou before him, Burge before him….wait a minute you were on their cases virtually every week.

Oh.

not exactly a gotcha moment given i admitted he’s been a revelation this season and I’d been one of his biggest critics - which oddly references the thread title?

Will you now hold your hands up and admit he’s vital to the team and one of the first names on the team sheet?
