We do also have to factor in your irrational hatred of Allen when you speak though mate to be fair .. it's basically the same way grendel speaks about Robins at this point 🤣 I generally agree but the way you put Allen down is just a bit predictable

Allen plays first team football for Coventry city , an established championship side and often starts , he's played over 100 games at championship level .. he's a championship player

He’s not a DM though mate, so he’s up against Hamer at CM, or O’Hare or Palmer at AM. Tell me with a straight face you’d drop Hamer or O’Hare for Allen?

Fuck all to do with my feelings, he’s just not on that level. Even his biggest fans just say he works hard.

You get my point , there's not going to be any changing of his mind is there , no matter how he plays
Does seem so. And tbh this season has possibly been Sheaf's most... mixed season for us so far, in my view. There have been games he's just not been on it, but he escapes criticism now.

You'd have to question , why mark robins seems to really rate him and plays him so often .

Last season 38 league games , this season pretty much every league game.

What data do they have that suggests he is a starter ?

When he had that good game I said so. He just doesn’t have many. He works hard, he keeps his shape, but he rarely does much. Palmer has twice the assists in half the time, O’Hare is O’Hare.

I know we love a trier but come on!

I agree , Sheaf does have an air of invincibility about him now , fans are rating him higher than he should be quite often.

Good player , but hasn't been his best as often this season .. fact

Last season he was up against Jodi Jones and Shipley, this O’Hare has been out all season. Everyone fit (which was the question) he doesn’t get near the starting XI

One fan on here said sheafs performanace against Blackburn was the best individual performance he'd ever seen at ccfc ..

This is quite simply hard for me to understand

So you'd imagine tomorrow he doesn't start

I don’t think either O’Hare or Palmer are 100% yet and that’s why Robins is rotating them.

Also we’ve been playing 5311 with O’Hare or Palmer as a second striker rather than the box.

Saturday we defended in a 541 and attacked in a 5221

How it looked from the stands ?

When their keeper had the ball second half allen and palmer were either side of vik before dropping in a flat 4 midfield

Yea had a look you can see in transition we are coming out of a flat midfield 4 into the box Screenshot_20221107-213404_YouTube.jpg

Allen on present form and the way the team sets up starts whoever is fit - that’s it really

Yep, was me. I think someone quoted some of his stats after the game and they were unheard of. He was absolutely class.

It's an opinion. But I agree with it.

Sheaf, Hamer, O'Hare and Palmer are easily our best four midfield players. I don't hate Allen and I don't think anyone on here does. He has done well this and last season but he doesn't have the same quality as the other four. He has only played every match because at no stage have the other four all been fully fit and available.

He'd only ever been to 2 other games!

Fair enough but without becoming entangled in a war of petty words I just found it very hard to understand

He was in championship TOTW without scoring or assisting which just doesn't happen. So many people missed how good he was in that game

Because he didn't score or assist? There's more to football

No not because of that , I don't base performances off this for somebody like sheaf ..

But it simply isn't the best individual performance in a city shirt for years .
I'm sorry

Don't expect many people to agree which is fine. But a lot of people missed quite how good he was

No. We have one championship quality holding midfielder in the squad and it’s Ben Sheaf. It’s as black and white as it comes. The next closest is Kelly. Allen isn’t a DM, at best he’s backup for Hamer or in a pinch one of the AMs.

We've seen Robins is more than happy to play Allen and Eccles in a more central/holding role so saying we only have Kelly and Hamer is nonsense.

I can see you aren't budging on this so I'm going to leave it, but the crusading some of our fans have for Sheaf is a bit strange. At present we have better performing midfielders which will make team selections anything other than straightforward.

I’m not sure how people can compare Palmer, Allen, O’Hare and Eccles to Sheaf, they’re literally different positions. Fadz for Walker upfront anyone? Because Fadz has been class so he must be a better striker than Walker no?

Eccles and Allen have both played in the same position to Sheaf this season.

This Sheaf crusade is getting silly.

Allen is having a really good season but Robins didn't sign Palmer to leave him on the bench and play Allen ahead of him. The intention was clearly to have O'Hare and Palmer as first choice in the box.

But fair play to Allen he's grabbed his opportunity. Just hope he can keep up this recent improvement in end product.

They haven’t as such, whenever Allen or Eccles play at the bottom of the box its Hamer that takes up the role of screening the back 3 with Eccles or Allen linking to the AMs. That’s why we’re better with Sheaf in the team because he gives Hamer more freedom to get forward and try and create something.

Sheaf is considered to be the best player at the club, and it's not even close.
Different gravy, if you know you know.
He's literally on another planet.
