If SISU miss the golden opportunity to get from under their nightmare and come out clean they would be incompetent to say the least. Selling assets like Gyokeres in January may look good short term but should relegation then follow, SISU are back in the wilderness again with a continuing nightmare for them. The price on Gyokere's head and a couple of other stars at the club, gives SISU some negotiating power, but not much. Probably enough to get their full investments back. Joy would take that.
Yes but I think they’ll then flog the club to MA cheap after Jan. They will get more in total selling off in bits, with inflated Jam transfer window prices, than they would selling as a whole to Ashley.

To be fair to SISU they have at least had the good sense to send Robins and the players away to Spain whilst all this might go on.

Ok, not huge expense but at least some.

I think that Robins saying “priceless” and Fadz £30m Gyok is telling.

What will SISU claim squad value is (I repeat what will SISU claim - not what we think it is?)

£50m?

You know what I think SISU want for the club.

No. In business that's not how things unfold. Mike Ashley is far too wise a cookie for that. He would say now or not at all. Imagine if SISU upset him and he puts the rent up so high in the coming years that SISU would be the ones being leveraged just like they tried to do to WASP a few years back?! beleive me, SISU will want to negotiate a way out now.

Can people stop suggesting Ashley is going to put the rent up? He can’t for another eight years.

I don’t think he wants the club either TBH, there’s been no suggestion of it other than from us fans.

If he doesn’t after the lengths he went to to try and get Derby I’d be surprised and disappointed in equal measure.

Just think he’d have at least spoken to someone about it. We’re all hanging on a Mail article saying he “could” go after us but that’s it. It’s all supposition.

He hasn’t officially said that he’s going in for the stadium either. I agree with you all we have are optimistic fans hoping for him to do it but there’s a lot of good reasons why he’d be interested.

He can.... there is a big "unless" though.
That unless is unless the council, as freeholders write into the contract of sale that they should keep the current terms of the rent, which i was told, when I was told this last night, is "a pittance".
The council have the power to do this apparently, but don't have to!
Much to most peoples disgust, the council, as freeholders also get to authorise any deal.

Would it be unusual for a 10 year lease to have a means of increasing the rent or are we expecting to be paying the same in year 10 that we did in year 1, that's an unknown for me.

In any case we know from past expensive there's ways for the landlord to make things awkward and more expensive if they wish.

Back to the days of having to pay for hospitality on the basis that every game is sold out, or hospitality being unavailable, or ACL insisting on managing the stewards and hiking the price up, booking events on match days so we get bumped to Friday nights.

Lots of ways to give the club a financial hit that isn't hiking the rent up.

If he buys the lease the terms remain.

It might have inflation built in. Why would he even try that? None of it makes sense TBH. He wants the stadium the same reason everyone else does: to develop around it. Squeezing a few quid out of a football club isn’t worth shit.

Apparently not...
Again naive to think this. imagine if you owned the stadium - it was your business and an outsider had control of what rent you should charge a tenant in your stadium?
Even if true, (which I highly doubt) Ashley would have that removed.

You would think that wouldn't you. But this is a tangled Web of ownership. Aa has been proved by who is dealing with all of the interested parties. (Or not dealing with them....)

There's a lot of things that don't make sense hence my reluctance to make definite statements on Ashley's interest or motives.

We've gone from people wanting the NEC nowhere near it because an owner that wasn't interested in the football club would be a disaster to Ashley being a landlord we'd have no issues with. There's too many unknowns imo to be making statements like that.

If, and at the moment its a huge if, Ashley does at some point want the club and SISU don't want to sell, at least at a price he deems acceptable, who knows what will happen.

Do we know who's money he was using for the Derby bid,?
I just wonder. if that was personal money as against the Fraser's umbrella this time
I mean the actual Club element would fit quite strangely on the Fraser's asset portfolio.

I think we have a habit of seeing everything through the lens of CCFC and forget other things exist.

Probably just me buzzing off our recent run but If any potential investors or even our current owners can't see how close we are to being a top team in this division now, they never will.

Would take money to strengthen the squad and nerve not to cash in on the big 4 in January but we are in excellent shape.

Yes Iagree. It is all speculation at this point, but clairty of how things could go is important to understand. I'm just saying how I would see it. I've bought and sold half a dozen businesses in my time (freehold and leasehold) so feel qualified to make my comments. It will be very interesting to watch Ashley's team work on this and what he will do exactly.
