Love Gyökeres, best forward we have had in a few years... But
Utter dogshite at penalties!

Thought he had turned a corner with that one against WBA but nope.

Is it 2/4 so far?

Seems far from natural to him. that one against Rotherham trickled in

If I was a Prem scout I'd rip up my notes and look elsewhere 😉
if he was a true penalty taker then he would get 100% one on ones past the goalkeepers, its all to do with a calm persona that gives you the ability to take pens

20m is the fee waved about on twitter. Would anyone else accept that?

the reason it wont be 5m or 10m but 15m + is in a straight auction, there are 4 or 5 teams who would pay that

We should be really pushing teams to pay more that 15, Wolves for example would easily pay £25mill. Not saying he's worth that, but Prem teams have an abundance of money that we can exploit.

Whether it goes into ccfc/playing squad is a different story altogether though.

Yeah I made this point before. People said we accepted peanuts for Hyam and we'll do the same with Gyokeres.

Difference is there was only one team in for Hyam (as far as we know). Multiple PL teams will be in for Gyokeres so regardless of how desperate for cash we are we won't have to accept the first paltry bid.

Disagree. Hyam was a panic sale because we kept the 'big 3' and had serious cashflow issues. If argue he isn't worth much more than a couple £m anyway.

Gyökeres on the other hand is clearly a PL quality, international footballer who is in huge demand and sits at the top of the goalscoring charts. The club can push as much as they want with him.

Erm. Did you read what I wrote? 🤣

5 wins from 23 games for safety. We can scrape that without Vik. Hopefully get a couple of them before he goes!

However does remind me of when Hull sold Bowen and Grosicki in Jan and went down from a similar position to us

Might make sense to sell him TBH. Fadz and O’Hare out for the season probably makes this a write off. Huge amounts off the wage bill in the summer. Sell now, bimble along for the next six months and spend the cash in the summer on a big rebuild.

Fuck half invested. We have a new owner and are debt free. Three quarters at least.

Love the optimism/bullishness but realistically if we initially reinvested half of 15-20m I’d be happy enough. We bring in say 4 players on 10k+ per week, that alone could add a couple of million quid pa wages onto expenditure (less Viks wages) which needs to be taken into consideration in future years

Id be gutted to see him go as he’s probably my favourite player in recent years but there’s no doubt on my mind if a Premiership club comes in for him, he’ll want to go. He’s an ambitious lad and an international and after seeing what’s happened to ohare you can’t blame a player for wanting to secure a move to Prem if opportunity arises

Are the people think Robins will be handed £5m - 10m if Vik goes assuming King is genuine and the deal will be done before the window closes or expecting Sepalla to suddenly decide she wants to give Robins a huge amount of money to strengthen the squad?

Not particularly confident in either of those scenarios happening

Clearly if the king deal falls apart vultures will be circling and not offering the type of money discussed here

I suppose I’m thinking wage bill as well. But I’d wait until the summer when we’ve got £70k+/wk off the books by all accounts.

According to Talksports Alex Crook Brighton will receive a significant sell-on clause from any transfer.

Thought this all along. No way they’d let a promising player teetering on the edge of the Sweden national team who had scored (albeit in overseas leagues) go for £1m without considerable add-ons. I suggested up to 50% of profit which is probably extreme but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s as high as 30% odd.

Hope the club can hold their nerve and Viktor is willing to stick around till the summer but I think the chances of that are getting slimmer

IF he does go, I hope it’s to Brentford! Brilliant set up, forward thinking innovative manager and with Ivan Toney likely to receive a very lengthy ban from football he will more than likely get his chance

I agree that there will be a sell on clause to benefit Brighton, but I'm not sure that it'll be any more than 15%. My reasoning being that his loan deal at Swansea was poor and whilst he improved here....he wasn't looking like a player capable of stepping up to the PL, which goes to show what a brilliant job Vik and our coaching staff have done.

You could argue that's the exact reason there would be a hefty sell on %.

Brighton sell to us on the cheap, but on the off chance he becomes really good they put a big % clause in to cover themselves. We're not cash rich so happy to take him for a lower fee but with high sell on clause, not expecting him to be going for anywhere near 20m in the future!

Not sure that selling Vik for £1m given his track record at that point was "cheap".....it might seem like that now, but some on here were questioning that fee.

Indeed - some thought we should retain biamou and not sign him at all….

I very much doubt it was £1m up front and yes I admit to being a bit surprised by the fee at the time.

But I don't see Brighton letting him go without a fairly significant sell on clause and as I say given our financial situation I think we'd gladly have taken a lower up front fee in exchange for a bigger sell on clause.

I would love it if Vik stays but regardless of the potential takeover I think it will be very difficult to hold on to him if a few clubs come in for him in January...it's not just about the fee the club get it's about the huge salary increase he will receive as well, and he will be getting that info from his agent.
The recruitment department will looking right now for a potential replacement and it's possible the club will be in a position to pay a larger transfer fee than has been the case in the recent past.
