Absolutely. It was a ridiculous team selection if we wanted to win the game. If we didn't why did he bring those players on?

We had a midfield of Sheaf and Kelly and a forward line of Tavares and Waghorn. There are no goals in that.

The message of that team from Robins was I am not bothered but then it us puzzling that he brought Guokeres and Hamer in. He really didn't have a plan at all.

In games like this you either have to go in with the right attitude or accept defeat. Robins did neither.

Why play Allen away at Sheffield United where he is not quite good enough but not against Wrexham when he could have run the show. Playing with Sheaf was crazy.
Fans of Forest, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Brentford, QPR etc would have all thought the same as us yesterday that the starting lineup should have been good enough to win the game. The gulf between starting 11s and squad players is evidently huge.

The managers of the teams above subbed on their better players (at differing times) to try and get back into the game and all still lost.

They are a very good NL team.

The team he put out should have been good enough. Do you think that apart from the famous 4, our squad is non league level?

Honest answer….without our top 5/6 players, we would struggle in League 2. If you can’t defend and you can’t score you haven’t got much going for you.
Paper thin squad, that’s just proved to be very precarious without the big guns.
The only positive is the timing of that shambles early in the transfer window ….and now we can supposedly strengthen🤞

If he has made changes at half time then we have more of a chance as well.

He didn't, as usual.

Same as Swansea where everybody in the ground knew there were getting back into it.
So you start a thread about all our injuries and then moan he didn't play our star players for longer?...

Goals obviously weren't the problem. We could have scored 8. The issue was the defending and it was basically the first choice defence so I don't see how that can be pinned on Robins as a selection problem.

They were a huge problem with the team that started - as was the nonsense decision to play Dabo

The answer is start strong and then take players off as the job is done. Otherwise all the impetus is given over to the lower division side.

His obsession with dabo needs to end. It's been there for years and he shouldn't play for us again.

To absolve robins from blame is ridiculous

We scored one goal against a National League side with that starting line up. This was from Sheaf and was only the second match he has ever scored in for us. That doesn't tell me that there were goals in that starting eleven.

Yesterday was absolutely nothing to do with owner ship. We should have beaten them.

1000% but there's a lot more to do with it. Chesterfield drawing to West Brom is as big, if not bigger shock.

I asked what our medical team are doing. Valid question isn't it?

Star players could get injured in training on Monday morning....

It's probably not he medical team.

I bet they are banging their heads against the wall watching Robins rush players back and overplay them when tired.

The lack of alternatives and depth is the big issue. There's no real option.

I agree he should have made changes yesterday and its on him that he didn't.

But your 'as usual' comment doesn't make sense.
The first half illustrates exactly why he doesn't make changes, our 'lesser' players aren't up to it.

The number of times we came back last season suggests he's usually right, too. As such, not changing things until later is valid, too.

It is as usual, how many years has it been pointed out he doesn't react quick enough?

The argument that the others aren't good enough doesn't explain why he also had the same issues in league one and two where he had no clue how to change games until it was too late.

Was it Colchester away for example? Made no changes, they score another and he makes changes.

That game he brought tavares on and he scored (Preston was it?) Only happened because somebody was injured. He wouldn't have other wise.

He admitted himself at PNE away last season that he waited too long. He’s allowed to have flaws and when your pool of players to choose from is small this particular one gets exposed more often.

No clue? We got promoted out of both of those leagues.

Exactly this.

The same people that shout for more subs every week are the same people raging at his team selection yesterday 🤣

It's been happening since our first season back in the league. Yes let's bring on Jordon Thompson, Dacosta and Shipley to change the game.

Who do you think we've got on the bench who we can bring on to make a difference?
The squad has slowly being deteriorating, that obvious to see.
That doesn't mean Robins doesn't make mistakes, but don't let that detract from the main issue surrounding the club.

Bringing up L1 is a bit ofa strange one considering we won the league. No one goes a season without making mistakes, if you want a manager who doesn't then you'll be waiting a long time and we can rule out Ferguson, Wenger, Pep and Ancelotti for a start.

How to change games or doing it too late.

It's good if games are going our way but look at Swansea for example. Everybody in that ground knew what was going to happen bar him it seems.
And all the late winners last season?

There are other ways to turn the tide in games beyond making as many subs as you can as soon as you can - not that you’d know it from reading this forum.

We have had some benches this season probably on more money than the first 11.

Is the old recruitment team to blame?

Fgr at home in league 2, from memory it was nil nil and be brings on another defensive midfielder rather than try and win.

you said the starting team was good enough to win the game though - you even said Tavares wasn’t as bad as some made out - he was and the starting 11 wasn’t good enough

Shipley played as many games as Kelly did t he in tbe lower levels and was a vital player. Strange player to mention

Yes because it was clearly good enough to win the game.

That it didn't is on them, not Robins.

He was one of my favourite players in league one but he hasn't stepped up, at all, and the excuses that get wheeled out for him when other players would be slaughtered are ridiculous.

Most fans have been asking for Tavares to get a game , yesterday was the perfect game to test tavares , and also a perfect chance to rest Vik , id have probably gone sheaf and allen in midfield but again allen has played alot of minutes so another opportunity to rest , its also an opportunity to try get dabo some game time and get him more towards match fitness , which he just doesnt appear to be , there's an awful lot of hindsight merchants in here , FACT - that team should be beating non league wrexham .

Unfortunately football throws us lots of curve balls

Desperate stuff digging out a substitution against Forest green really.

As I said, hes not infallible, but our overall problems are nothing to do with subs in L1 or the Swansea game even if they were errors on the managers part.
