Transfer Rumour Sean Maguire incoming (4 Viewers)

Thats rubbish - this is a replication of the strategy Sisu employed in their early days with Coleman - filling depleted squads with fillers in a forever revolving door

I think you can only really make that accusation after the summer window if the pattern persists.

We had loads of loans and 6 month contracts during those years - the squad was poor anyway and we signed loads of players on loanand short term deals

You mean the final Coleman year? The first two we had two loans a year and signed a load of players for a fee.

Or is it to cover injury?
It could be both, we are depleted and we need decent squad improvement even when our walking wounded get back. Should give MR much needed options and for six months gives is chance to have a good look at him before deciding wether to keep him before putting a bid in for Saka or Foden.

Cant understand the level of antipathy towards this guy. Purchase makes sense and clearly not going to break the bank. MR+AV in are better position than us to see the qualities this guy brings to our formation. Will take him a little while to understand our system but can score goals at this level. Not sure we have brought in anyone in last 6 years that we were completely sure could perform/score at Championship level even Hamer and Gyok.

6 month deal, provides a bit of depth that we need, won’t get in over Vik or a fit Godden

He will be playing for a contract either here or elsewhere in the summer so you’d hope that means he’s going to work his arse off

If he’s no good we can just get rid in the summer

Hes clearly going to be an upgrade on Waghorn (cant be worse).. Right age, it's not just about goals he creates goals and brings others into play. On highlights seems like hes got 2 decent feet...right contract not alot of risk.

Alot of ticks good signing experienced championshiop striker who's 4 years younger than Waghorn.

Agreed. Godden is available now, so Maguire will give us another option off the bench, as Walker is clearly not good enough.

He's definitely a squad signing and really you've got to hold him up against Shipley & Jodi Jones who fulfilled similar squad roles last season. Palmer seems to die a death after 65 minutes or so. If he can come in and give us a an option for twenty minutes then it's a decent, relatively low risk piece of business. Not exactly an exciting signing but we still could have other options in the works before the window closes.

Give the lad a chance and u never know he may find a home. In my opinion Its a cover signing for the club but gives then time to get ready for the sumer
I know nothing of the player but the lad now has an opportunity to perform. The risk is the same as any other, but its at a minimum cost.

We signed Bidwell last January

We signed Bidwell to play though. This guy has clearly been brought in as cover for Gyökeres & Godden (when fit). I'd imagine he won't play a huge amount. If he can be a slight improvement on Waghorn we're in a better place.

I think he’ll fill in well for O’hare, I think if Im remembering correct he runs around a lot, and good on the ball

Willing to give the lad a chance, like I said earlier he seemed decent until the last year or two, but he says as much in his own interview. I think he's a high workrate player which is exactly what we need. Preston forum seemed to suggest he worked quite well alongside Riis for them who is not dissimilar to Gyokeres.

Hasn’t scored a goal in open play since 2019 apparently

shrewd bit of business 😂

still give him a chance, can’t see him being more than a stop gap

I'm not sure what your point is.

You can’t purely go on stats I assume is the point. And it’s valid.

Regardless of how this signing ends up turning out.

Although lack of goals for a striker are way more of a valid concern than O’Hares stats.
