in real speed it’s not even clear if Gyokeres would get to the ball first it was at an angle not towards goal - I personally wouldn’t have expected a red the other way round

If it were Panzo I suspect you would have

If City had won you wouldn't have cared less about the ref.
Jesus. Here you go, yes, city need to play better (although it wasn’t bad yesterday) and they need to be more clinical, creative, whatever. But officiating like that is ruining decent games. Refs, linesman, whoever, should be held accountable when they perform below standards required, the same as if a footballer does. Like I said before, their performances are independent of each other. Do you understand that?

Anyone seen the handball from vik’s shot? Ref is clearly looking at it and gave nothing.
Can’t believe that after what’s happened before he gets the same fixture again.

He was t good and not consistent but people were moaning yesterday that the JWE second billing wasn’t a yellow. It could have been a straight red it was certainly a yellow it was ridiculous
Well, in real speed, AND actually being taken out, he STILL got to the ball first. So how would he not have got there first if he hadn’t been pulled back?

for a start the referee view is at a different angle and it’s an instant decision. If the rules permitted would VAR have said it’s an obvious error - I’m not sure it would

I think that we can all agree that every ref makes mistakes and that every team's fans will have different views and although frustrating, that is fine. Personally I thought if it was a pen, he should have gone, no complaints about our sending off. What did piss me off was the inconsistency. He was insistent that free kicks were taken from the exact spot, however, when it came to throw in's, they were taking them yards from where the ball went out. The ref let too many things go at the beginning of the game, hence the shithousery that took over the game was detrimental to the game.

What has the ref’s view got to do with him getting to the ball first? He literally got to the ball first whilst being held back. You said it wasn’t clear if he would have got to the ball first. That was my point.

Surprised no one mentioning their player grabbing jwe around the neck after his challenge. I hate var but sometimes I wish we had it in this league.

I get why people are pissed off with the ref, he was terrible. Not sure how that can be argued with.

For me it's still not something I would use to distract from our performance though. We failed to score again (from open play).

Even if the ref was playing nice would we win? I highly doubt it. The ref needs looking at, but we need to have a bigger look at ourselves.

I think he was atrocious and the animosity and vitriol from our fans towards him proved that. I haven't seen so many incorrect decisions In a game. From throw ins, corners and cards. Everything was just shite.

It all goes back to grass roots and the massive refereeing shortage crisis which is the result of the abuse and treatment they get from players, coaches and parents.

It means you have a smaller pool to develop to bring them through the pathways to become an elite referee.

I understand, just don't get worked up by such trivial things.

Must be just me, but at the time, I couldn’t make out what the defender actually did to Yok to bring him down, and the video makes it no clearer.

like everyone, I was up shouting for a pen, as I thought he must have caught him somehow, but it’s not clear to me what he actually did.

Also, the Walker foul looked a correct decision from my angle. He stretched his leg out and caught the defender.

I don’t think it was a clear red to be honest it’s a difficult call
I think if you give the penalty then it's a red. No attempt to play the ball. Personally think we've had more blatant penalties not given though. Was a handball in the second half which should've been a penalty.

I genuinely can't believe he didn't give a penalty for the handball in the box by their defender. Watching on iFollow I thought it looked like a clear penalty, the replay showed the ball striking his arm. Not sure on the specifics for "natural position of the arm", but it wasn't by his side.

Well, in the grand scheme of everything, football is trivial. However, this IS a football site and people come to air their views. You dismissing them as trivial is contradictory to the site itself. Football is emotive.

Wow so JWE could have been red but the penalty only a Yellow.

Because one was in real time and the other in slow motion that clears it up for everyone.
