Gyokeres switches to 'top' agent (7 Viewers)

Nonsense. He's been kept largely under control by some strong defences and hasn't had his best games but I totally disagree that there is any lack of effort.
He got barged and grabbed and held from the get go yesterday. This is par for the course now.

This is where our captain should be in the refs ear.

I’d like to see us utilise the Southgate “bus stop” in set plays. Vik in the middle and Fadz / McNally blocking the “shirt grabbers”

The lad needs to hone his trade a bit more, instead of looking for the big pay day and dreams of glory in the premiership. Which is a constant lure, I get it, but he isn’t going to have much joy out of top flight defenders. He’s already getting tightly marked as it is, and roughed up a bit.

Plus, when things aren’t going his way, it seems the toys come out of the pram, and then that’s half of the opposition’s battle won for them. 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic player, but still has a way to go, and that Premiership grass won’t taste any sweeter if he’s not getting the rub of the green and regular goals.

Even in his “poor game” against Stoke - without a great save and then a very lucky block - he’d have had two goals.

He’s hardly going to be happy with the likes of Cuffey delivering rubbish for him to feed off and Godden who runs like an octogenarian alongside him. Would top performing strikers like Shearer or Ronaldo be pleased with that? I highly doubt it.

The Swansea game he had no impact but it’s one game. Esbrand and Cuffey really deliver little quality into the box and Hamer had a poor game. Unless he’s going to start to be like Kane and get balls from midfield what’s he supposed to do. I mean come on he’s been a great player for two years here. The best out the top flight we’ve had. He has to move on but no one can question his ability and chance to make it in a premier league where the likes of Bournemouth are in the so called mid table area

Lol I’d I imagine Alan Shearer or Chris Sutton needing their captain to help them if their shirt is pulled

His main weakness is he goes to ground too easily and doesn’t utilise his physical strength enough

Why would not want to go to a prem team ? What's the point of him staying in the championship ? He'll be 25 in the summer and be going to a prem side where he'll likely be first or second choice striker. He's already had 18 and 19 (and counting) goal seasons in the championship where he's earning tens of thousands of pounds less every week than he could be and he's also a fully fledged international. This isn't a basala sambou situation.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was fatigued as well. When was the last time he was rested? Featured in the last two international breaks too

Feel even a half interested Gyokeres still has a match winner in him out of nothing

If he doesn’t sign another he’s clearly leaving
He would be a mug not to, happy here, substantially increase his wage, play every week and can still move on next summer, we win, higher fee should he still be delivering, he wins financially and career wise.

Not sure that's what he or his agent will be thinking. The chance the play in the premiership presents itself to very few people... He'll grab it with both hands

Can’t believe the absolute shit I’m reading tonight. He’s been fatigued for weeks, he’s slowed down clearly because of this yet his effort is still there. Foolish to think he’ll sign a new deal, and he and we should be looking to move on for both parties sakes. Wish him luck when he inevitably does this summer.

But it is also what Robins and for that matter Doug King thinks, he still has twelve months left on his contract.

I just think he's had a couple of iffy matches .. I'm sure he's proffesional enough to give his all until the season finishes .. probably have a blinder tomorrow

Agree.

He’s knackered from playing pretty much every minute of every game, then going on international break where he’s probably had lots of training and little rest. When he does play he’s grabbed and kicked and gets little protection from referees and is playing without the “decoy” (ie someone else the opponents will focus on) of Calum or to a lesser extent Palmer or Allen.

He’s probably a bit peeved and we’ve seen his frustration show of late.

He is a complete forward and often has to play the target man role and receive and turn. No one else can play that role.

I will continue to say: there is no cover for him and as someone else pointed out, signing MaGuire seems pointless. Another lightweight forward we didn’t need.

I think it’s an outside chance we’ve got at best, but imagine if Robins dropped Gyokeres now. It’d be his worst decision in 6 years.

It's ok to say he's been shit without coming with 100 different excuses. He's not been good lately. As much as I love him, it isn't a crime to say it.

I also believe there’s a personal grudge held by him for Swansea. Every time we play them he has a quiet game and seems more easily frustrated.

Who told you he has refused to sign a new deal ?

I've asked you 7 million times why you think hes staying and you still wont answer.

You're the only person on here, twitter etc that seems to think hes not leaving, and not just not leaving, seem to think we should keep him for the last year of his contract

Absolute financial fucking suicide by the club to not sell him this summer when he clearly doesnt want to stay

I'll remind you all again what he said Monday at the tavern

"Will you be here next season?'

'If you're in the premier league yes'

The bloke knows hes going to go onto 50k a week in just a couple of months. More chance of you growing a fanny than him staying

It is likely that he goes but there there are at least two scenarios where he stays:

1) As you say, we get promoted and pay him £50k per week.

2) CCFC owner (could even be MA for all we know in the summer) decides that, say, 65k per week over 3 years (£10m) contract makes Vik worth £10m more (so is it that mad?) and gives us are best chance of PL football (I guess we’d also need to show intent and sign a few other good players for Vik to sign a extension)

3) (sad but true), Vik does a bad injury and no one wants him.

It seems inconceivable, now, that Vik would stay.

But

This time last year, if you were to tell me that by Easter 2023 Wasps would be gone, SISU gone, Mike Ashley on the fringes, we 3 pts from playoffs I’d say: inconceivable. Madness. Lies.

He might stay for mega money if we don’t go up. £65k a week to chase the top of the Champ or maybe similar to sit on a bench in the Prem.

Unlikely, but not impossible and if the last 10 months is a benchmark - I’ll rule nothing out.

He understands that the more he scores the even bigger his eventual PL price packet will be.

He is our only player who also had to play during the international break.

He is playing alongside an over the hill Godden and the out of their depth JWE/BNC duo.

If anything he’s simply frustrated that his teammates aren’t up to the task while he’s the only one who hasn’t had a break. Fully expect him to score at least once next week.

Is Watford on Sky? Shop window? Cheeky £10 on a hat-trick.

It's common knowledge that a contract has been on the table for quite some time but as yet he's not agreed has he?

So who has told you that both Robins & King are confident he's signing a new deal?
They haven't. He just can't mentally prepare for his vik leaving.

Signing balloon boy Whickham and resting Gyokeres for him is a nonsense idea.

From his / his agent’s perspective, is the most value after the Euros 24?

Let’s look at the title of this thread. What’s the strategy in him doing this?

If he plays and does well in the Euros that’s a heck of a shop window.

If he runs his contract down, what kind of signing on fee and contract can he demand as a free agent?

Doug (or in the Twilight Zone where MA is the Svengali) has to get his big trousers on this summer.
