From his / his agent’s perspective, is the most value after the Euros 24?

Let’s look at the title of this thread. What’s the strategy in him doing this?

If he plays and does well in the Euros that’s a heck of a shop window.

If he runs his contract down, what kind of signing on fee and contract can he demand as a free agent?

Doug (or in the Twilight Zone where MA is the Svengali) has to get his big trousers on this summer.
If he does well in the Euros and wants a move, he gets one anyway whether he's in contract or not.

It’s not assured Sweden will even qualify
Indeed.

I just don't get the wait until his contract goes and he'll get more cash. He's played well enough for us he'll get plenty of cash anyway and a pick of clubs. He'll also very probably get a %age of the transfer fee himself if he hasn't asked to go.

He doesn't need to run his contract down to get a big move with lots of cash, his performances this season will do that for him!

He doesn't strike me as being motivated by a big pay day at all tbh, it's a football decision and TBF if I were him I'd look to move on if the choice was another season of Championship football and a better level was on offer.

Aye, and if cash is the issue, a half decent season at a higher level will get him more cash than hanging around with us, free transfer or no.

He's outgrown us frankly.

I've asked you 7 million times why you think hes staying and you still wont answer.

You're the only person on here, twitter etc that seems to think hes not leaving, and not just not leaving, seem to think we should keep him for the last year of his contract

Absolute financial fucking suicide by the club to not sell him this summer when he clearly doesnt want to stay

I'll remind you all again what he said Monday at the tavern

"Will you be here next season?'

'If you're in the premier league yes'

The bloke knows hes going to go onto 50k a week in just a couple of months. More chance of you growing a fanny than him staying

Why so tetchy, it seems to me you will be disappointed if he stays, a lot on here had him on his bike in January. Now all of a sudden he will be on £50k a week and seizing on a throw away answer at some event suggests he’s on his way and a bit of a disappointing performance v Stoke makes him unhappy.
As for the only person thinking he’s not leaving this summer add Mark Robins and Doug King to my side of the fence.
Of course a new agent might change things but I suggest that was inevitable as Viks profile increased.

He’s probably knackered from having the hardest job of any striker in the Championship.

Do we have any other attackers opposition defences need to worry about? No ❌
Do we make chances for him every game? No has to make his own ❌
Do our wing backs bomb and give him good service? No ❌
Do our attacking midfielders run in behind and drag centre backs away? No ❌

Yeah, but apart from that.

Well somehow we are ninth in the table and only three points off a play-off spot, it is Easter have faith miracles might happen, our new owner has said that new players will be signed do you not have the confidence that Robins can deliver.

I'm not slating Robins or saying we've had a bad season. Just that Vik is probably knackered from having to do everything himself with us and then playing twice for his country.

You told us categorically he wasn't leaving tho. Now you are trying to backtrack to cover your arse.

If his plan was to sign he would have said yes when asked the question.

It is likely that he goes but there there are at least two scenarios where he stays:

1) As you say, we get promoted and pay him £50k per week.

2) CCFC owner (could even be MA for all we know in the summer) decides that, say, 65k per week over 3 years (£10m) contract makes Vik worth £10m more (so is it that mad?) and gives us are best chance of PL football (I guess we’d also need to show intent and sign a few other good players for Vik to sign a extension)

3) (sad but true), Vik does a bad injury and no one wants him.

It seems inconceivable, now, that Vik would stay.

But

This time last year, if you were to tell me that by Easter 2023 Wasps would be gone, SISU gone, Mike Ashley on the fringes, we 3 pts from playoffs I’d say: inconceivable. Madness. Lies.

He might stay for mega money if we don’t go up. £65k a week to chase the top of the Champ or maybe similar to sit on a bench in the Prem.

Unlikely, but not impossible and if the last 10 months is a benchmark - I’ll rule nothing out.

Yes. We're going to pay a player £3M+ a year. I'll have a shave if it helps.

We cannot have a situation like Diaz at Blackburn where he is walking away for free

The whole transfer system is bonkers and you can see how so many clubs get themselves into trouble at this level.

What do you do?

Sell Vik for £10m in the summer?

Give him a £10m contract and have him worth £20m if we sell him if we don’t go up next year?

High risk strategy either way.

Didn’t Gary Breen walk away for nothing? Edit; just read that he had Inter Milan lined up after he ran his contract down but failed a medical. Something about Barcelona too. Never knew that.

For me we sell him and try to get two not as good strikers but it eliminates some of the risk having such value in one player, he could get injured anytime and be out for months then we are stuck.

He is our rebuild.

He better be a 'top' agent as Gyokores isn't a premier league striker in a million years.

Strikers have to be selfish to be successful but he’s taken that to a new level recently. He won’t be too popular in the Prem if he does that and can’t score himself.

Yep, not squaring it to Hamer who’s was in on goal and instead shooting from 35 yards was criminal. Very good individual, awful team player.
