Hamer and Kelly incredible. Great goal from Godden. Eccles solid and a brilliant tactical foul.

Vik was apologetic at he end. He was that poor and he knew it.

Wilson 7

No clean sheet but really good at coming for the ball and then slowing it down at the end.

Dabo 5

Surprised he started and stayed on so long. First half a season in the Champ, he was cutting in to the centre field and doing quite well. Now? Really quite poor. Lost the ball often and really did t do much.

McNally 7

Mopped up well and some good surging runs forward, but his final ball was lacking. Did well

Doyle 6

Quiet but generally ok

Panzo 7

Good against a bunch of huge players. Didn’t do much wrong.

JWE 7

Glad he started instead of Bidwell. Offered good attacking outlet.

Eccles 6

Was ok but nothing special. Couple of good runs but on the other hand lost a lot of duals and a few daft passes. He will improve in time.

Kelly 8

His off the ball positioning was brilliant and his experience was needed with Fadz out. He might have no flair or great talent but we would have struggled without him.

Hamer 9

Incredible. Just incredible. As I write this my daughter is making me watch Sheff Utd v Man City. Hamer would not look out of place on the pitch there. He is that good.

Godden 7

Useless player. Brilliant finisher. That’s Godden.

Gyok 6

Terrorised the defence for 100 minutes. Should have had at least a hat-trick.

Subs

Not-on Earlyenough 7

Much more effective than Dabo. Needs to start v Brum.

Bidwell 6

Cameo

Fadz 6

Steady at the end

Walker 6

Cameo

Wilson - 7 - Wasn't thinking about him too much (other than if he was going to score again) which is a good thing.
Dabo - 6 - Taken off after 55/60 minutes and culpable for giving the ball away needlessly for their goal. Just can't see a future here sadly.
McNally - 7 - Actually thought he was a bit careless with the ball coming out of defence, but maybe harsh, was committed and worked hard.
Doyle - 7.5 - Pretty solid.
Panzo - 7.5 - Considering he hasn't played for a while I thought he looked pretty confident and assertive.
JWE - 7 - Always seems a threat running at opposition defenders, but not always sure about his positioning. Was reasonable enough overall.
Kelly - 8 - Been brilliant today and in the week. I think that seniority and calmness has been much needed. Really pleased for him.
Eccles - 7 - A respectable enough performance after what I thought was a pretty crap one against Blackburn.
Hamer - 9 - The guy is just on another planet. Our best player and an absolute beast.
Godden -7.5 - Fantastic goal. Do that once a game and I don't give a shit about what else you do.
Viktor - 6.5 - Marked down just for missing so many chances. A day to forget for him perhaps, but was still a pest and an outlet.

Norton-Cuffey - 6- Also gets respect from me for sticking up for Kelly. Still not totally sure about him in general, however.
Bidwell/Walker/Mcfdadzean - Probably not really on long enough to get a full rating from me, but came on and did a job.
Robins - 8 - Got it right today. The Kelly introduction was the correct move.

Absolutely fucking fired up for Birmingham now.

Trish Adudu - Let's be having you!

Hamer certainly motm but despite missing good chances, Vik deserves more than most have given him (imo) for his effort. Ran them all over and got kicked plenty and created lots himself. Better that he misses on a day it doesn't cost us too.

Wilson 7 - nothing outstanding, nothing wrong.
Dabo 6.5 - an odd one, and hard to justify in many ways as he made some glaring comedy errors at times (controlling the ball off the pitch a particular classic!) but, even had a shot charged down, which showed he was getting up in support, and his positioning is ahead of Norton-Cuffy's at present.
McNally 6.5 - generally solid, but did make a couple of dubious passes, and also very leisurely once or twice that allowed their player to nick the ball. Does have the confidence to come forward however.
Doyle 8 - has improved as the season went on. Dominant, still occasionally looks a bit slow of thought.
Panzo 7 - maybe harsh. He didn't do anything wrong, but doesn't reassure me as much as Doyle, and does look a little lightweight. Up until halfway through the season, he and Doyle were much of a muchness. You can see why Doyle's moved ahead as the certain starter though but... did he actually do something wrong?!?
Wilson-Esbrand 6 - Another hard to mark. Good first half, but slept and let his man by him. Second half, picked up a booking and then had a couple of niggly fouls that looked like a red card waiting to happen. Was right to take him off, and maybe should have gone off earlier.
Eccles 6.5 - passing needs work, as does speed of thought again from time to time. Generally OK but...
Kelly 8 - Remember Dabo a few games back? Came back from imjury, had a stormer, then was dogshit for a few. I feared this for Kelly after his cameo but, he was excellent! First half was always in the right place, with good passing and good decisions. Second half faded a bit, but maybe unsurprising. The kind of performance Eccles should aspire to.
Hamer 9 - I'd argue he's up there with Godden as best finisher at the club. he stays calm, doesn't panic, look at how the ball came back to him, he steadied himself, and guided it into the right place. Even his one on one I'd put down to a good save. Superb driving runs, needs to sometimes play it simple, the drastic balls out of defence looking for people on the break sometimes saw it coming straight back to us and, while that's maybe a risk worth taking early on, less so later in the game maybe?
Godden 7 - mildly anonymous, but half the time he was in the right place but the ball didn't come to him from his strike partner. Great finish though and that helped win us the game so, he's done his job!
Gyokeres 8 - many will mark him down, but I thought he was excellent. Had the defence's number all game, created plenty of opportunities by being in the right place. Marked down for the shocking one on one attempt in particular. Also, it would be nice if he didn't try and spin his marker *every* time, and sometimes tried to lay it off nice and simple, like!

Subs 6 - not on long enough to influence things, Norton-Cuffy and Bidwell coming on were definitely the right decisions!

Im with NW, 6s for Vik is harsh, he ripped them a new one especially first half, even though he was being fouled at every opportunity. Hit inside of post with probably his hardest chance. Should’ve buried the one where he committed defender, the slide was just too far in front of him and keeper pushed him wide for one on one. Just not his day in front of goal.

Wouldn’t mark anyone below a 7 even if that was one of the least enjoyable batterings I’ve seen us hand out….I was too nervous that they’d nick a draw. Notable mentions for hamer who was MoTM, Kelly just behind, Panzo and Doyle. Also thought Wilson esbrand was very good, especially going forward for first 60 mins

Lots of very good displays today against inferior opponents. Agree with much of the sentiment above (Hamer MOTM; Kelly excellent) but would add that I thought Wilson-Esbrand had his best game for us. Made a couple of mistakes and was unlucky a couple of times but generally tried to drive us forward down the left.

Wilson 7
Did everything needed of him well.

Dabo 5
Howler lead to their goal. Don't remember him doing much well. Think he's done.

McNally 7
Seemed to dominate in the air. Drove us fwd really well. Buy him, Doug. Please.

Doyle 6
Didn't close Joao down for the goal. Didn't stand out like McNally. Decent game.

Panzo 6
Same as Doyle. Fine. Not tested much. Less impact in possession than McNally.

JWE 6
A few poor decisions at the back. Silly foul for his booking. Decent going fwd.

Eccles 6
I've seen him play better. Not a starter if we have choice for Blues next week.

Kelly 7
Not as noticeable 2nd half. Good 1st half. Feel he could be big for us next week.

Hamer 10
Incredible performance. Work rate off the scale. Decisions were brilliant. Love him.

Godden 7
Brilliant finish. Vik wasted some great movement from him. Linked play well.

Vik 8
Did lots of things only he could do. Is Prem level if he plays people in more.

Robins 8
Made subs at the right times. Made tough calls with the XI - Dabo let him down.

I was surprised but impressed with Kelly's performance. I thought Godden was much more involved today.
Actually Doyle was officially MoM

Stewards - 1

Just seen a picture of the lad who run on. No more than 5'5 and 7 of them couldn't get him off.

Supposedly the highest policing and stewarding costs in the division.
