The penalty (1 Viewer)

Not really he didn’t want to make an issue. Thing I took from his answer was he thought godden handked it brilliantly
Expected nothing less from Godden, knew he would back off.

I still think it's a disgrace Vik took the ball off him.

There is no way in a million years the penalty taker hasnt been discussed.

Lol course he could it was assertive and confident as well as poor lol

I don’t get your point tbh - it was ill disciplined - godden is the penalty taker. You’d really want them arguing at Wembley in the final wouldn’t you? Gyokeres has as many misses as hits - if he missed we’d be hanging on - I don’t understand your thought pattern here

Before a final where penalties are likely they will have absolutely discussed it and got it nailed.

For all the amazing things Vik has done for us, he plays entirely for himself. Disgraceful today over the penalty.

It's the same with him moaning at other player's passes when his own passing is poor.

Brilliant player though which is why he is tolerated by Robins. A Premier League manager wouldn't though.

Godden was really professional and his work rate second half was great. Carried on passing to Gyokeres too, including for the disallowed goal, but rarely repriprocated.

Would be very surprised that there isn't a designated taker.

But it seems the issue was sorted quickly, Gyok scored and it seems to not have affected the camaraderie in the group.

On an aside, given we now have VAR and more pens being given I think it'd be fun to have the rule the penalty taker has to be the player fouled or the last attacking player to touch the ball (i.e. who did the cross/shot that led to a handball).

Hmm, looking at the thread it's actually the ones deciding Gyokeres wasn't unprofessional in taking it who started the argument...

Surprising lack of discussion about the critical importance of VAR on this forum today….
I wasn't there and didn't see the game. Clearly looking at the highlights after though, VAR definitely would have given the pen. Luckily, the ref spotted it and gave the penalty too.

As a couple of posters have said, issue is with Robins not having a designated pen talker. Strange. Bickering over who’s taking it just adds pressure. Decent pen though

I'm sure he does, but it's a way of keeping it in-house!

It's not that uncommon for clubs not to have an assigned penalty taker. You'll often find a striker wants one to get out of a scoring rut but that's not really the case with Gyok.

I think Robins was being forever the diplomat in public, he'll definitely have wanted Godden on it & I'm sure will insist it doesn't happen again. Vik scored & Godden handled it well, dread to think what could have happened had he missed though.

Got to say I thought Kelly as skipper would have commanded a bit more authority when trying to arbitrate.

Some of the comments on this thread , fuckin hell, Vik has been supreme this season, he's terrorised defence after defence, nearly every opposition fans say watch out for him or that they wish they had a striker like him , we have him (for now) and should just fuckin enjoy him
