Nuneaton and Rugby have always been sky blue strongholds but I think that’s been diluted a bit recently with the successes at Leicester and Villa and our problems in recent times. Even in our almost annual relegation scraps in our 34 years in the top flight the support from those areas was strong.
I remember in the old days lots of those blue double decker buses used to travel in from Nuneaton for every match.

I'm not sure Rugby has a majority of CCFC fans. When I was at school in late 70s most kids supported Leeds & Liverpool and the Man Utd Rugby Reds had over 300 members. As I got older and went regularly to pubs in town centre I would regularly see as many Newcastle, Man City, Leicester, Man Utd & Leeds fans as CCFC fans.

It probably has a majority of those that actually go to football matches. In the early 80's there were plenty supporting the big clubs in Rugby but they were mostly plastic and never went to games (not even when they played us at HR). Cov had an active supporters club though, ran by a couple of the legion lads and used to sort out coaches from the Saracens Head in the town. There were about 5 coaches went when we played in the cup quarter final at West Brom. I also remember when I returned on the train from the West Ham after League Cup semi final there were 100's getting off in Rugby.

I never knew about coaches from the Saracens Head, I knew 1 went from the Avon Mill. I started off by getting the train to Coventry and there was only 5 or 6 of us. The Rugby Reds ran coaches to most games, my brother went with them, so I know they attended games. The train when we beat them 3-0 in 1977 was interesting with 6 of us and a couple of hundred of them.

The Southam CCFC Supporters Club is pretty impressive for such a small place, filling a coach to a lot of away games

I've lived in Rugby for over 30 years and this town is predominantly a Cov supported town. Yes it has your usual Man U, Liverpool fans like everywhere else and probably a few more Leicester fans due to its proximity to Leicestershire but without doubt Cov makes up the majority .

In Warwick I'd say we have quite a lot of what I'd call dormant city fans. Of shirts visible it would be lots of PL with as many Villa as Cov

Agree with that. More Villa in Nuneaton than Cov now (and plenty of Leicester too) and don't know Warwick and Leamington as well, but sense it's pretty even down there also.

We have City season ticket holders all over our estate in Burbage/ Leics too.
We used to go to the pubs after matches most weeks and they were almost split 50/50 Cov and Leicester , that balance changed in 2016 of course

Good point in a way, but if they weren’t there - there would have been trouble. The mere fact of their presence encourages knuckle draggers not to be violent.
There did seem to be enough around yesterday to surround the ground. I’m obviously not fully right on that however I saw a lot of them being used up by morons in the car park.

Cardiff did more damage than this at Bristol City last year.
Cardiff were ashamed and paid for all the damage. They added £1 to every away ticket for the rest of the season to fund it.
Seems like a decent response.

Rugby is all Cov, i moved here from Coundon over 20 years ago and i'd say its even more so now. I grew up hating Villa but i find people from Rugby hate Leicester more than Villa.

QPR away the other week was a struggle to get on the platform due to the number of fans traveling on the 9.30. I heard it was packed on the 10.30 train too. The Fighting Cocks pub in Bilton and The Dunchurch Social club are always packed for with City when we're on Sky.

Its one of the fastest growing towns in the country which is a bit annoying living here but is a good sign for new fans if we get to the magic land.

I thinks that's a big change from when I grew up in Rugby and there was definitely more hate for Leicester than Villa. I grew up 150 metres from the Fighting Cocks and didn't know 1 other Cov fan when I went to primary school & there was only 1 other lad in my class at secondary school. When I moved to Old Bilton in 1985 Sky wasn't around to see who was watching who in pubs.

I'm similar in that I moved to Rugby 18 years ago and I agree Rugby is a Cov stronghold...I see loads of Young kids in City shirts these days.

I spent my school years in Rugby and left in 1983 when I was 18. The coaches ran from about 1981 to 1983 and was my introduction to away games. There were about 250 members of the supporters club in Rugby at that time, and I remember they had quite a lot of events where City players and staff would attend. Can remember meeting Dave Sexton, Harry Roberts, George Curtis and Rudi Kaiser off the top of my head. As I remember quite a few of the lads came from Brownsover.
