Always a sad time of year in a way, especially for Screenshot_20230513_140241_Twitter.jpg these youngsters.

So sad for these young players. I actually feel quite choked by Georges tweet.
Watching last night I thought he and the keeper were our best performers. Although both are maybe too small for their positions at the levels we are trying to get too.

Massive credit to George for his efforts last night, knowing he was leaving and not holding back in challenges shows great character. I really hope he gets another club where I'm sure he will do well.

Is this good timing? Negative vibes around the squad just before big games? Could it not have waited a couple of weeks?

It probably could, or should, have for morale sakes. But that would be several more weeks wages the club would have to pay for "dead wood".

...our youth set up is clearly not good enough. Has not been for ages. Nee and Burroughs were supposed to be two of the best prospects but they are clearly not up to scratch. Youth set ups are a long haul - look at the time these boys have been with us. If it is sorted out now, we will not see the benefit for another decade.

We also seem to have given up on 'development' as a source of talent - that generated Hyam and MacCallum (and also Westbrooke). There has been nobody of that ilk for a while.

It's only fair they're given the max time possible to find a new club. Wish them both well. Née was banging them in at age levels above his. Goes to show we know very little about the youth setup. Just because they stand out doesn't mean they're good enough. I hope they prove the club wrong though

Contracts run until 30th June so makes no difference in wages paid. They have no more games do it's fairer for the players so they have more time to find something else.
I wonder if many decisions are made until the season is fully over. There’s about 20 teams who don’t know what division they are going to be in next year. (Granted, they are probably going L2 or similar but there’s going to be so much churn other clubs are surely going to wait to see which clubs release who and delay decisions until then?)

I would have kept the lads around to enjoy our promotion party at least.

Just a bit sentimental- I know.

The development of players will happen less and less as you go up the leagues as they have no time to make mistakes and learn so I wouldn’t expect to see any more Hyam type players.

The first team released list will be interesting
But surely MR will wait until we know if we are going up or not. That’d be the sensible thing to do, right?

Now, Sonny Bradley is the Luton captain and a bit of a terrace hero etc. It’s been announced (the other day) that he’s leaving at the end of the season. Sensible? I’ll state that I think that that’s a silly move. MR would be mad to say to Kelly: “any dream of you getting a chance of an extension of a year and having the odd game in the Prem - nah”. MR was pressed a bit in the pre match presser about Kelly and kept his cards close to his chest. That’s one of the great things about MR - keeps things professional.
